Purpose of Job
The Senior Analyst, Corporate Finance, Strategy and Analytics, will be joining a high-energy, high-performance team focused on driving the Bank’s mission and delivering value. The senior analyst’s efforts will focus on initiatives such as new opportunity identification and evaluation, enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, and enterprise performance and growth. These efforts will often involve cross-functional teams across the bank and require partnering with senior executives to support their businesses. In addition, this team supports overall strategy and direction of the Bank and is responsible for supporting Board-level engagement and communication on business performance and enterprise strategy. The incumbent will use their analytical abilities to provide both qualitative and quantitative inputs to support the development of recommendations for Senior Management. In addition, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for communicating findings and managing follow-up related efforts. Main Activities:
- Strategy development and execution (40%)
- Use quantitative methods (e.g., Excel models) to develop insights that support decision making.
- Support the development of business cases for new opportunities by performing analyses, managing communication of findings, and supporting on follow-ups.
- Contribute to the brainstorming, structuring and problem-solving process for a range of strategic and tactical business topics (e.g., growth, pricing, operational efficiency, etc.).
- Use internal systems to gather relevant data from various internal sources and support senior members of the team to drive strategic projects forward by creating and delivering presentations to communicate findings from analysis.
- Establish, own, and support recurring processes that enable quicker turnaround on analysis.
- Corporate function / business analysis and problem solving (40%)
- Communicate findings and insights from research in a logical, concise, and clear manner to drive decisions.
- Support the yearly enterprise-wide strategic planning and budgeting process (e.g. Financial modeling, market research, development of presentation materials, etc.)
- Engage with Corporate Finance and Reporting teams on content creation and finalization for quarterly and annual reporting obligations.
- Drive projects forward by managing internal stakeholders, developing output material, and presenting key deliverables.
- Proactively engage and lead efforts on multiple parallel engagements and support on projects with Personal and Commercial Banking teams as needed.
- Market dynamics and intelligence (20%)
- Conduct research to support business unit and enterprise strategy (e.g., competitive position, product assessments, market sizing, etc.).
- Perform interviews with internal and external parties to gather information and develop insights.
- Scan various sources (e.g., news releases, journals, industry publications, etc.) to identify, track and monitor market, competitive and regulatory trends.
- Stay current on recent events and share findings to related parties as necessary.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (e.g., business administration, engineering, math/science)
- 1-3 years of work experience, ideally in Management Consulting, Investment Banking or Corporate Development and Strategy
- Proven ability to thrive in a constantly changing and competitive environment and to perform well in a high volume, high intensity environment
- Strong understanding of business performance and strategy
- Awareness of trends in financial services, particularly related to digital banking, residential and commercial lending
- Excellent analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Proficient in using MS Office (Excel, Access, Power Point)

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
