Okta's Customer Identity Cloud (CIC), powered by Auth0 technology, is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. The Senior Backend Engineer Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, this role will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to the foundation of Auth0's Ecosystem, realizing a significant impact on our customers and partners. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our high-caliber Extensibility Engineering team to help us continue to improve our ultra-low latency, secure, and scalable platform for untrusted code execution.

What you’ll be doing
- Design, architect, and document large-scale distributed systems
- Implement features across different layers of the stack using technologies such as AWS, Azure, Node.js, Go, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Kubernetes
- Drive technical decision-making while striving to balance simplicity, flexibility, reliability, and performance
- Contribute to improving Auth0's architecture, performance, observability, security controls, and best practices
- Collaborate with Product and Security teams to define and continually improve Auth0's Extensibility platform and architecture
What you’ll bring to the role
- 5+ years of experience working on large-scale systems or service
- Passion and thorough understanding of building and operating secure, reliable, and scalable distributed systems. (Node.js or Go preferred)
- Experience with cloud environments and containerized deployments
- Exposure to API-driven applications using RESTful or gRPC services
- Solid understanding of application security and cloud security best practices, especially around the security and isolation challenges of running untrusted code
- Proven ability to collaborate with others to drive initiatives forward
- A high bar for code quality
And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
- Good understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript
- Experience with frontend application development in React/Angular (or other JavaScript frameworks)
- Sandboxing untrusted code
