Senior Banking Technology Specialist

As a consequence of the rapid and continuous growth of the organization, our Treasury team at Booking.com requires a self-starting individual who is able to make major contribution to the business by gauging and supporting implementation of optimal Banking technological solutions for effective and scalable payments and collection products.

As Sr. Banking Technology Specialist, you are responsible to identify, assess and implement the right technology and connectivity solutions that enables the product and business teams by providing them with a suitable channel to make payments and collect receivables in a seamless manner. You are responsible to own, manage and improve all Banking Technology core activities including Treasury Management System (TMS), Banking Infrastructure and Bank Masterdata. You have proven project management and implementation experience with such channels and connectivity products such as Swift FIN, FileAct, XML payment files and corresponding statements and payment messages, File format for various collection and payment products (Direct Debits, Payroll, Vendor payments), Bank MasterData and host-to-host connectivity with various financial institutions. Success is created by translating business needs to Banks, Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and tech teams and ensuring the business/finance teams are adequately trained on the products before deployment. Identification of the right products to help support the business in a scalable manner is key. You are also responsible to scout for new and evolving technologies such as Blockchain and APIs to ensure system and business readiness for the future.

You will be part of the Treasury team of 30+ people and work closely together with dedicated banking specialists, reporting to the team leader/manager. You will be able to demonstrate flawless teamwork, coordination, and relationship management skills, with tenacity and drive for successful projects. Objectives vary between a number of technical landscapes (Regulatory, Legal, Tax) and this role requires working effectively with experts and stakeholders in each area. You will be accustomed to a work environment that thrives on innovation and initiative.

B.responsible

• Responsible for understanding, implementing and managing business needs around the right technology products for collection and payments.
• Owns and drives the implementation of Swift products with the Banks/PSPs and liaises effectively with internal Booking.com technology teams.
• Understand the requirements of various business models and teams and support them with effective ownership of implementation of the right banking technology products (file formats for payroll upload used by accounting teams, Direct Debits processes and file formats, right Swift Fin and FileAct set-ups that are fit for purpose).
• Liaison between external and internal teams to ensure the requirements are understood in due detail and the ‘right’, fit-for-purpose products are identified and implemented in a timely manner.
• Working closely together with Banking colleagues to optimize current core technology infrastructure (bank infrastructure, Masterdata process) and maximize their operational efficiency and scalability.
• Ongoing monitoring of the evolving Banking Tech landscape (including Blockchain and APIs) and proactively advise business teams on products and opportunities that could be leveraged, replacing existing products.
• Work closely with specialists across the Banking and wider Finance department to identify and implement best market practices and solutions for both partners and customers.
• Identify opportunities to drive value through process automation and the elimination of process waste.
• Management of ad-hoc projects where required.
• Actively contribute to the team identifying and proposing changes in both external processes as internal to increase compliance, efficiency and cost reduction.

B.skilled

• Excellent English speaker with strong communication skills, able to adapt style and approach in order to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders from a variety of different cultures;
• Seasoned Banking technology professional with previous experience in managing projects and implementing products in areas of Swift Fin, FileAct, XML file formats and payment messages and statements, SAP and Bank Masterdata;
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance; specialized diploma in Treasury Management and Swift Certifications is an advantage;
• Able to keep an overview of several complex tasks / projects that run at the same time;
• Strong passion for innovation and technology;
• Experienced in project implementation and/ or change management;
• Broad knowledge of evolving Banking technology landscape – experience in APIs or Block chain technology for Payments is an added advantage;
• Strong interpersonal skills;
• Excellent people & stakeholder management skills required.
• Able to demonstrate relentless tenacity to drive business objectives and deliver results;
• Willingness to work flexibly, and undertake global travel if required by the business;
• Advanced Excel and presentation skills.
