Senior Content Program Manager, Events

- US

We’re looking for a strategic content producer to shape the themes, story arch and programming calendar of our global marquee events. The ideal candidate will have the experience and insights to successfully work across GitHub (and beyond) to craft compelling and impactful content programs that deliver on event, revenue, and company objectives, while delighting, informing and educating our enterprise, start-up, and developer audiences. 

The content program manager will lead the strategy, discovery, curation, scheduling and maintenance of the program schedule - ensuring the appropriate balance of topics, level of expertise, internal vs. external speakers, product mix, customer, partner, and community voices, diversity, and more. 

Responsibilities:

  • Curate our event content programs, with a focus on mainstage, breakout sessions, and on-demand content while providing support and story consistency for keynotes
  • Create and manage working groups with colleagues across product marketing, customer success, customer evidence, field marketing, integrated demand generation marketing, and developer relations to identify themes, tracks, stories, speakers, and workshops
  • Oversee call for speakers process including the review and approval management of proposals to ensure high-quality and diverse presenters across every program
  • Develop high-profile industry / speaker strategy, from development to wish lists, to overseeing outreach and management
  • Own speaker management across all hybrid, live and virtual events - including trainings, rehearsals and speaker communications
  • Review speaker decks and presentations and offer suggestions to make them stronger / more cohesive with our key event messages
  • Think out of the box to imagine new ways to tell technology stories in a hybrid event world, optimizing for breadth (scalability), depth, and platform relevancy
  • Act as speaker concierge, directing and supporting agencies to provide a world class experience to our speakers. Our goal is that GitHub events are the best experiences in our speakers’ lives.
  • Partner with our event agency to manage speaker logistics including room requirements, AV and recordings

Requirements and Experience:

  • 5-7 years relevant experience in content programming for developer-focused global marketing teams, and a total of 7-9 years content and storytelling experience
  • Experience building content tracks and programs for high-profile developer / technology / B2B Saas events (experience with developer and/or enterprise audiences is a must)
  • Experience in developer relations or community management a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with a talent for bringing together cross-functional teams for large projects
  • Ability to see the forest through the trees, but also be a fantastic planter and nurturer of ideas, speakers and content
  • Instinct to approach all projects with a DEI lens to ensure the process is inclusive and representative of our global developer community
  • Ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously, under tight time constraints, in a (mostly) virtual environment
  • Travel (when safe) ~15% will be expected a few times a year to be on-site for event production and execution 
  • Must be based in North America and willing to work Pacific time zone hours as needed

Minimum salary of $89,200 to maximum $200,200.

At GitHub certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role. In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee’s role.


Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States or onsite in one of GitHub’s U.S. offices (San Francisco, Bellevue, Raleigh).
