Position Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Cost Analyst to join our team. This person is self motivated, has a focus on details, and has strong technical accounting skills. The Senior Cost Analyst will primary responsibility for managing the company’s product cost area within our Netsuite financial system. You will report to the Accounting Manager. And work closely with all finance team members and the Operations group. You will be responsible for inventory management and understanding and reporting on all aspects around costs of manufacturing our products. The ideal candidate will have effective communication skills, a passion for growth and learning and thrives in a highly collaborative workplace.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts
- Investigate cycle counting variance and resolve issues
- Analyze and make recommendations for improvements to the Company’s material transactions processes.
- Update standard costs in bill of materials
- Update standard labor rates and hours and Overhead rates and OH pools
- Set standard costs and review actual costs for variances, perform variance analysis
- Prepare monthly entries to ensure inventory and cost of sales are recorded correctly
- Prepare account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze standard costs and reserves
- Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles
- Review inventory with operations and dispose of obsolete inventory
- Assist in Month End close of the inventory to the GL
- Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as material purchases, labor are being properly recorded
- Developing policy and procedures around product development activities (R&D), and release to production and cost to manufacture products
- Strong understanding of Bills of Materials (BOMS)
- Report on Margin by product / Sku
- Assistance quarterly and annual audits regarding Inventory, costing and any reserves
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 solid years of Cost Accounting in a Food Manufacturing Environment
- Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS and internal controls
- NetSuite experience (preferred)
- Must have strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting and inventory principals
- Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards
- Ability to accurately prepare and communicate daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
- Proficient in Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets) skills
- Excellent reasoning, analytical, and reporting skills
- Excellent communication, employee relations, and interpersonal skills
- Time management skills – capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines
- A CPA License (a bonus)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)
