About our Data Scientist opportunity:

At Liftoff, our Data Scientists build systems that enable real-time recommendations for billions of ad requests daily. Focusing on the mobile app ecosystem, we leverage and combine our enormous and unique datasets to model click rate, conversion rates, bid prices, win rates and post-install user lifetime values. We contextually match our content across tens of thousands of apps. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to develop models and algorithms behind our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement statistical and machine learning models to predict competitive bidding landscape, click through rate, conversion/action rate, ad relevance to users etc.
  • Analyzing data to identify useful relations, patterns and features that are predictive of user behaviors, preferences, intents, interests
  • Continuously identify and explore new and unconventional data sources
  • Generate hypothesis and design effective online experiments to continuously iterate and improve on algorithm performance
  • Taking on unique modeling challenges of data sparsity, delayed feedback, as well as modeling in the context of privacy restrictions
  • Work with engineering and operations teams to build systems and operational capabilities for implementing models and algorithms, and monitoring and evaluating their health and effectiveness in production
  • Use strong communication skills (verbal and written) to explain statistical and machine learning concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience; Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Math, Data Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Be an expert in at least one scientific programming language (Python is strongly preferred)
  • Be an expert in probability distributions, statistical modeling and machine learning
  • Be proficient with structured query language (SQL)
  • Be proficient with Bayesian statistics and modeling

Nice to have:

  • Have experience with return on ad spend (ROAS), customer lifetime value (LTV) modeling in mobile applications
  • Have experience with auction dynamics and bidding strategies
  • Be familiar with at least one deep learning framework (e.g. TensorFlow)
  • Have experience working with AWS (Redshift and S3)
  • Have experience maintaining high quality production code
  • Have experience deploying effective ML models to production
  • Have experience connecting to data sources and prototyping data pipelines
  • Adtech experience is a major plus
