Senior Financial Accountant
About Us
HeliosX is a health tech company dedicated to improving the quality, accessibility and affordability of healthcare for everyone. Founded in 2013, the HeliosX group began when we saw that whilst many other industries had adopted rapid delivery and pushed for customer convenience, healthcare remained a slow and cumbersome experience. Beginning with MedExpress and growing to include Dermatica, RocketRX, and Ziphealth, the HeliosX group has grown to a team of 200 people helping customers in 9 markets around the world.
The Role
HeliosX is looking to hire a diligent Senior Financial Accountant to take ownership of financial accounting and controllership of our growing multinational group. We are seeking a qualified accountant with at least two years’ post-qualification experience. Reporting directly to the VP Finance, this is a fantastic opportunity for a bright, passionate accountant looking to solidify their transition into mid-sized business controllership.
This is a full time, permanent role. HeliosX is a remote first company, with a heavy weighting toward home working. All we ask is that candidates are based permanently in the UK and happy with occasional travel to our offices in Central London. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role; candidates must also be eligible to work in the UK.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of the balance sheet and P&L accounting.
- Accountability for group treasury governance.
- Leading on the month end close process and preparation of board level reporting materials.
- Ensuring the group meets its local tax and statutory compliance and reporting obligations.
- Leading the relationship with the external auditors and drafting consolidated year end accounts under FRS.
- Ensuring robust financial processes are implemented and adhered to across the business.
- Leading on the control and financial accounting workstreams for any relevant systems implementations.
- Accountability for all consolidation entries and financial adjustments.
Requirements
- Fully qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA (or equivalent) etc. with at least two years’ post-qualification financial accounting experience.
- Accounting practice background is essential, alongside extensive experience in general ledger functions, knowledge of the financial statement close processes, and delivering to reporting deadlines.
- Experience of cash management and treasury operations, including cash flow forecasting.
- Strong working knowledge of SME financial systems and controls frameworks.
- High level of data literacy, with strong Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Experience navigating ambiguity, and self-motivated to deliver autonomously.
Whilst not essential, any of the following would be advantageous:
- Relevant experience of working with an online direct to consumer (D2C) business or in a high-growth/scaling environment.
- Prior experience in a leadership position, with exposure to people management and mentoring.
