The Senior Global Payroll Manager will provide the vision and strategic direction for delivery of global payroll processes and systems. This role will lead a team in managing daily operations of the global payroll function, working with external payroll providers ensuring all payments made to our employees are accurate, timely and in accordance with the respective-country tax regulations. The Senior Manager, Global Payroll is responsible for cross-collaborative efforts to improve and enhance current payroll processes, holding vendors accountable to strict standards, and delivering operating efficiency improvements through best practices in standardization and automation.  The Senior Manager will lead, coach and manage a high performing team, as well as building and maintaining partnerships with external vendors and internal partners (Finance, Tax, Legal) to support the work.  The Senior Manager will ensure that the team has well established process, policy and procedures that are documented and support organizational compliance efforts (SOX, SOC2, ISO, etc.)

What you can expect to do in this role:

  • Provide oversight for team responsible for multi-country payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely payroll for all employees worldwide
  • Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll and benefits transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, allowances taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensure all operational processes are controlled from a risk perspective, and have built-in control plans and assessments to regularly review their effectiveness
  • Evaluate, develop and enforce the use of audit tools which support the payroll process
  • Set up payroll processes in new countries as we expand operations
  • Oversee payroll audit process and reporting aspects of internal and external audits; identifies and resolves discrepancies
  • Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual payroll tax filings are met; ensure all local statutory payroll and fringe benefit reporting requirements are met
  • Ensure stock activity for US and international employees is properly processed and reported for employee and tax reporting purposes
  • Partner with Treasury and Finance on payroll funding and accounting
  • Maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax laws
  • Research, analyze, and resolve problems or questions presented by employees and managers by utilizing knowledge of accepted payroll practices, company policy and the payroll system functionality
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for the team for complex issues and various ad hoc requests
  • Lead significant systems and process changes in the payroll function
  • Support month end, quarter end, year end close activities
  • Partner with HR, Legal, and Finance teams for international expansion projects, serving as project manager for payroll implementations and conversions
  • Be a role model for the team, and develop a strong sense of shared team vision, optimizing the contribution of the payroll team through coaching, collaboration, mentorship, and knowledge sharing
  • Prepare and manage budget related to payroll programs

What we are looking for:

  • 8+ years payroll experience in a global environment. Exposure to several payroll systems and processes, including in-house and integration with third party vendors (required)
  • 5+ years leadership experience in payroll (required)
  • Experience with Workday, ADP (Streamline and Celergo), or other payroll processing / HRIS systems, including in-house and integration with third party vendors (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent degree. (preferred)
  • Deadline focused; excellent understanding of payroll systems, data workflows, and root cause analysis
  • Highly analytical and excellent problem-solving skills with working knowledge of general payroll protocols, accounting principles and Federal and State regulations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, exceptional customer service and project management
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) (preferred)
