Senior Internal Auditor Associate

The role of the Senior Internal Auditor plays a pivotal role in assessing and enhancing the bank’s risk management, internal control, and governance frameworks. You will lead audit engagements and provide guidance and mentorship to Internal Audit Associates.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Audit Planning and Execution
• Lead internal audit engagements from planning through reporting, ensuring adherence to established audit procedures.
• Plan and conduct meetings and interviews with auditee management and personnel.
• Analyze and document auditee business processes, including comprehensive risk assessments and control evaluations.
• Develop and execute specific audit procedures to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Perform detailed control testing, including walkthroughs and document reviews, maintaining comprehensive audit work papers.
• Collect and critically analyze data to identify control weaknesses, potential fraud, and non-compliance with regulations and policies.
• Prepare clear and concise audit documentation, including findings, impact assessments, and actionable recommendations.
• Organize audit work papers in a manner conducive to developing a report on audit results.
• Present and discuss preliminary findings with auditees to ensure accuracy and mutual understanding of identified issues.
• Obtain input and action plans to address identified deficiencies.
• Prepare internal audit reports that summarize audit results, findings, and recommendations.
• Supervise and support the Internal Audit Associate activities. Interacting with internal and/or external customers.
Fraud Investigation
• Conduct thorough investigations of potential fraud cases, including reviewing materials, conducting interviews of relevant parties, and analyzing evidence.
• Collect and document evidence to support investigative findings and determine the presence of fraudulent activity.
• Prepare detailed and accurate investigative reports, summarizing findings, evidence and recommendations.
• Present investigative reports to the Regional Manager, Internal Audit, for appropriate action.
Other Responsibilities
• Perform other associated duties as requested by the Regional Manager, Internal Audit
Requirements/Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Risk Management, Compliance or equivalent
• Certification in ICA, ACAMS, CIA, CPA, ACCA, CFE, or CISA
• Minimum of 5 years’ work experience in internal audit or a similar role
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Supervisory or Sr. Associate Role
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
• Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong adherence to professional standards and confidentiality
• Membership in IIA – Bahamas Chapter an asset
• Periodic Travel and working additional hours periodically as required
