Senior Manager, Procurement

GitHub’s Strategic Finance team is looking for a Senior Manager to lead Procurement. The role provides the opportunity to build resilient and scalable systems and processes to meet the strategic sourcing needs of a high growth SaaS business.
The Role:
We are looking to hire a Senior Manager for our Procurement team. The scope of the role will include direct leadership of Strategic Sourcing Managers and will be focused on driving clarity, efficiency, and accountability in our procurement systems, processes, and execution.
The successful candidate will collaborate with business partners across the organization, including senior leadership, to build and improve best practices. They will be responsible for key tooling and resourcing decisions. We’re looking for an organized thinker who can drive multiple projects simultaneously while inspiring and developing a team of sourcing managers.
Responsibilities:
- Partnership & Collaboration. Build strategic partnerships and trust across business units at GitHub and drive collaboration between key business partners in the procurement process, including Finance, Legal, and Security. Support Sourcing Managers in supplier selection and contract negotiations.
- Insights & Accountability. Periodically evaluate company spend in order to identify and quantify savings opportunities and to prioritize strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Grow & Protect. Evolve the procurement team into a best-in-class strategic sourcing organization. Be directly responsible for key decisions on tools, systems, processes, policies, and documentation. Innovate and iterate on the procurement process, and then evangelize the important role it plays to protect customers, business partners, and the business.
- Team Building & Leadership. Continuously challenge each member of the team to deliver their best work. Coach strategic sourcing managers on effective communication and business partnership practices. Create clarity and establish achievable goals while instilling a growth mindset across the team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Work Experience. 8+ years of relevant work experience. Examples include: procurement, strategic sourcing, process management, FP&A, corporate finance. People management experience is a plus.
- Technical Skills. Experience with processes and policies, and an understanding of tools and systems.
- Detail Oriented. Affinity for attention to detail and accuracy.
- Business Intuition. Solid understanding of sourcing, pricing, contracts, and negotiation.
- Communication Skills. Strong communicator with the ability to distill and simplify critical processes and requirements for all audiences.
- Interpersonal Skills. Build trust and effectively collaborate cross functionally.
Preferred Requirements:
- People management experience is a plus.
- Experience with Ironclad and Coupa, or similar workflow products.
- Prior experience managing stakeholder relationships with Legal and Security are a plus.
(Colorado only*) Minimum salary of $89,200 to maximum $189,300 + bonus + equity + benefits.

Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States or onsite in one of GitHub’s U.S. offices (San Francisco, Bellevue, Raleigh).
