The Dispatch
The Dispatch

Senior Producer

TLDR

Editorial show producer shaping growth of The Dispatch's podcast and multimedia portfolio through new formats, sharper structure, and host preparation.

About The Dispatch The Dispatch stands out as a platform for thoughtful coverage, respectful dialogue, and a wildly engaged community of paying members. We bring a perspective—we’re right-of-center—but we’re fiercely independent, standing apart from media outlets increasingly engaged in partisan boosterism. Started in 2019 by Steve Hayes and Jonah Goldberg, The Dispatch has filled a valuable gap in the media ecosystem as covered in the New York Times, Vanity Fair, The Atlantic, and other publications.   The Role The Dispatch is seeking a Senior Producer to help with the next phase of growth for the company’s podcast and multimedia portfolio, including Advisory Opinions, The Dispatch Podcast and The Remnant, as well as the launch of new shows and video formats. We are looking for an experienced editorial show producer with deep experience in podcasting, show development, editorial structure, and news-driven programming. The right candidate should know how to sharpen an idea, shape an episode, prepare hosts, improve structure and pacing, develop recurring segments, give useful notes, and turn promising concepts into repeatable formats. We’re looking for someone who has helped develop, launch, run, or improve editorial shows. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a role steering editorial content on news-related podcasts or video programming. Candidates do not need to be equally fluent across audio and video, but they should bring strong expertise in at least one medium, ideally podcasting, and familiarity with the other. They should also have an understanding of how to adapt shows across audio feeds, YouTube, social media, and live events.  Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new podcasts, video podcast formats, limited series, recurring segments, and special editorial projects

  • Execute the development, testing, and launch of new shows and formats, from initial concept through pilot, staffing, production plan, and publication

  • Work with hosts and producers on individual episodes, including shaping ideas, improving rundowns and tightening edits

  • Help existing shows evolve at the format level, improving structure, pacing, audience experience, recurring segments, and consistency while respecting each show’s distinct voice and host-driven identity

  • Review rough cuts, final episodes, scripts, outlines, and show materials; provide clear editorial and production feedback before publication

  • Support day-to-day production as needed, including tapings, edits, recording logistics, post-production handoffs, publication timelines, and final deliverables

  • Produce and edit podcasts and/or video content

  • Help test and refine formats for audio, YouTube, social, live events, reported segments, and field production

  • Manage live events, field shoots, interviews, and special recordings

  • Qualifications
  • Background in journalism or another editorially rigorous field

  • Significant experience producing editorial podcasts, Youtube video or other news-driven audio/video programming

  • Experience shaping interview, analysis or news-related shows

  • Experience developing new shows, pilots, recurring segments, limited series, or repeatable editorial formats

  • Excellent editorial judgment and a strong ear for structure, pacing, clarity, tone, and audience experience

  • Experience working closely with hosts, reporters, editors, producers, or senior editorial leadership

  • Experience reviewing edits and giving constructive feedback to producers, editors, hosts, or freelancers

  • Creative editorial thinker with ideas for new Dispatch shows, segments, franchises, and video podcast formats

  • Hands-on understanding of audio and/or video production workflows and tools; fluency in one area and familiarity with the other

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple shows, deadlines, stakeholders, and priorities at once

  • Comfort operating in a small, fast-moving team where senior staff are expected to be both strategic and hands-on

  • To Apply, Please Submit:
  • Resume

  • Links to three editorial audio or video projects outlining your role and contribution

  • Brief cover letter explaining your interest in The Dispatch and describing any experience you have producing, developing, launching, improving or running editorial shows

  • We're committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We're proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
