Senior Product Partnerships Manager, Payments
About the role
The Partnerships team at Shopify develops and manages strategic partnerships in the fintech space.We’re looking for someone who is excellent at building relationships, works at a fast pace, is hyper-organized at managing complex projects, and skilled at getting cross-functional teams like product and marketing to work toward a unified and measurable goal.
This role will involve close partnership with our product, sales, ops, and marketing teams, as we work closely with our most strategic partners to jointly build out new product features, streamline user experiences, and go to market hand-in-hand.
Please note this is a senior individual contributor (IC) role, not a senior lead / senior management position.
In this role you will:
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem/industry, support the strategic objectives and interests of Shopify’s product teams on a global basis, and further these objectives through various partnerships and integrations.
- Have a deep understanding how Shopify merchant services products works and work closely with the Product team to problem solve and deliver on their objectives by leveraging third parties.
- Own relationships with some of the largest fintech/payments companies in the world.
- Identify and evaluate new payment partnership and growth opportunities to benefit existing merchants and drive new merchants to Shopify - across networks, wallets, and other payment verticals. Own the entire deal process from qualification till launch.
- Ensure the success of your partnerships by defining KPIs and growth targets by which we will measure success
- Partner with the Marketing team to develop robust co-marketing campaign strategies with partners with defined goals and KPIs
- Engage partners via product updates & QBRs (for high-priority partners), amplify Shopify’s brand, and position Shopify as a thought leader
- Negotiate amendments and renewals to contracts as the partnerships grow and evolve with changing business priorities on both Shopify and the partners’ side
- Develop infrastructure, operational efficiencies and continuous improvement for various projects.
- Proven track record building and implementing partnerships in the Fin-Tech, commerce, technology, SaaS/BaaS, and/or financial services industries
- Expertise in business case development, navigating and negotiating contracts in a complex and dynamic environment
- Experience collaborating with a range of business units and internal stakeholders, including executives, marketing, product, engineering and design
- You're a self-directed individual who is able to thrive on change and prioritize effectively
- Strong verbal and written communication skills - you are comfortable drafting documents internally and externally
