Senior Project Engineer - Secondary
TLDR
Owns end-to-end substation secondary design—from tendering through commissioning—delivering protection, control, SCADA, and communications systems within a global EPC environment.
Deliver secondary engineering design and project support across substation projects, ensuring technical accuracy, cost efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Develop protection & control schemes, single line diagrams, GA drawings, AC/DC schematics, and related engineering deliverables
• Design and review SCADA, telecom, fire alarm, and security system engineering for AIS/GIS substations
• Prepare BOMs, cable schedules, relay settings, SCADA I/O lists, and communication block diagrams
• Support tender engineering, cost estimation, and preparation of technical documentation
• Ensure inter-discipline coordination and proper validation of engineering outputs
• Provide technical support during installation, testing, and commissioning phases
• Review vendor and consultant drawings, resolving technical queries and ensuring design compliance
• Maintain engineering change records, design logs, and lessons learned documentation
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
• 10–14 years of experience in substation secondary engineering (P&C, SCADA, telecom, and related systems)
• Strong expertise in AIS/GIS substation design up to 500kV
• Hands-on experience with protection relays (SEL, ABB, Siemens) and relay coordination
• Proven ability in control & relay panel design, AC/DC schematics, and system integration
• Strong knowledge of SCADA, telecommunication systems, fire alarm, and security system design
• Experience supporting North America utility projects is highly preferred
• Proficiency in CAD/CAE tools and engineering documentation systems
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and quality
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across global engineering teams
• Strong communication skills for coordination with clients, vendors, and stakeholders
