Senior Scientist, High-Throughput Screening

Durham NC's EvE Bio is looking for a Senior Scientist - High Throughput Screening to join EvE Bio's screening group and to lead sample management. You will be part of a team that is responsible for profiling compounds of interest and hit characterization through in vitro cell-based assays. You will also be responsible for all aspects of sample management, and will work with scientists, IT, and operations to manage and expand our sample management capabilities. You will collaborate extensively with other members of this and other teams, with a drive to continually improve and execute within projected timelines. The ideal candidate would have prior experience as a member of a team involved in drug discovery and screening. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Executing established assays in support of our target pipeline
  • Analyzing experimental data and reviewing with team
  • Generating and tracking quality control data to identify anomalies or trends
  • Daily recording of data and procedures into electronic lab notebook and LIMS
  • Strategic leadership for sample management, and guiding growth of this functional area to support expanding needs.
  • Manage personnel, resources, priorities, and external compound management CROs to effectively support and advance research efforts.
  • Oversee all logistical aspects of sample management including ordering, registration, receiving, request fulfillment, shipping, and physical inventory.
  • Assume accountability for our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) supporting sample management and small-scale automation used to fill requests.

Requirements:

  • BS or higher degree in a biological or chemical discipline, or the equivalent
  • Extensive laboratory experience, including experience working in a screening lab
  • Strong initiative, problem solving, desire to learn, attention to detail, ability to effectively organize and prioritize
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, proactive communication skills, strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, and an ability to work effectively across diverse and cross-functional teams. 
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to help wherever needed 
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • A resident of North Carolina’s Research Triangle (relocation benefits are not offered for this position).

Desirable plusses:

  • Experience with liquid-handling automation
  • Experience working in drug discovery, especially in an industry setting
  • Previous experience in a startup/entrepreneurial environment 
  • Experience with high throughput screening and/or validated processes
