Summary:

The Senior Software Engineer works in a cross-functional approach to drive continuous evolution and implementation of Buzz Integrations' various strategic initiatives. This role is the glue that coordinates the interrelated work between internal/client technology projects, vendor contracting & onboarding, and internal/client business operational readiness. Accountable for the initiative’s roadmap, timeline, and deliverables. The Senior Software Engineer is a key decision maker, along with the Software and Product Leaders, on the timeline and deliverables, and will ensure that all stakeholders are aligned at each stage of the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with diverse, geographically distributed teams in a startup-like environment. This role should have an innate curiosity and deep empathy: speaking with someone for half an hour to understand their core concerns, motivations, and what would be necessary to create value for them. The Senior Software Engineer is passionate about building game-changing software with the experience to back it up and is excited to apply the skills to revolutionize development resources in managing and delivering quality software products.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned:

  • Design / Architect elegant, highly-scalable software solutions.
  • Distributed microservices for rapid development.
  • Lead prototyping and early coding efforts around new technology
  • Work with and mentor other engineers, helping them review designs, provide architectural guidance, and help with key implementation parts.
  • Review code and have your code reviewed
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of customers’ business challenges to shape thinking around the development of technology and implementation of solutions, leading to the creation of customized, groundbreaking solutions.
  • Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, and management.
  • Understanding of agile software development concepts and processes. Must be proactive and demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker. Consultative skills, including the ability to understand and apply requirements, draw out unforeseen implications and make recommendations for design, the ability to define design reasoning, and understand the potential impacts of design requirements. Thorough understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery. Collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required
  • Help others to meet or exceed standards for the quality and timeliness of their work (e.g., automated tests, test plans, and cases)
  • Participate in estimating, designing, and developing to verify the functionality, accuracy, and efficiency of complex developed or enhanced software applications across multiple concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, application design and implementing large components for enterprise projects
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure and tight deadlines.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working in a fast-paced business environment as a Software Engineer with relevant demonstrable experience managing programs and resources
  • 3+ years of tech industry experience with understanding and/or hands-on experience in managing modern software technologies including, web, mobile and cloud-based technologies
  • 2+ years working experience in performing impact analysis of technology initiatives on business operations
  • Experience in interfacing with technology team that works in an Agile framework (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, etc.) utilizing Atlassian tools
  • Demonstrated experience in willingness to learning and implementing COTS modules (e.g., CMS, CRM, eCommerce Platform, Data Warehouse solutions)
  • An “execution mindset” focused on getting things done quickly and simply. Strong bias for action and an intrinsic ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong interpersonal skills, negotiating ability, and evidence of enabling teamwork in a matrix environment

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred 5+ years of professional software development experience with the following technologies: Javascript, ReactJS, NextJS, Node, and MySQL
  • Preferred Bachelor’s and/or Masters’ degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent demonstrable experience
  • Application architecture and design patterns
  • Experience serving as technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle, from conception, architecture definition, detailed design, scoping, planning, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery, and maintenance is preferred
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering and best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience in the development of distributed/scalable systems and high-volume transaction applications

Work Location:

This position can be remote for purposes of providing adequate support to internal clients; offshore teams, being available for interactions and coordination of work with other employees, colleagues, clients, or vendors; as well as for facilitation of quick and effective decisions through collaboration with stakeholders.

 

Working Hours:

This exempt-level position requires one to work the hours needed to get the job done.  Therefore, one must have the flexibility to work beyond traditional hours and be able to work nights, weekends, or on holidays as required.  This may be changed from time to time to meet the needs of the business.  Typical core business hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

 

Travel

This position may require domestic travel and attendance at various local conferences and meetings.
