Senior Software Engineer, DevOps (Azure)
TLDR
Develops and operates scalable Azure cloud infrastructure with IaC, CI/CD, AKS, API Management, and event-driven architectures to support high-impact, globally distributed systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain production-grade Azure infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Bicep), ensuring scalable and reproducible cloud environments.
- Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps YAML, integrating automated testing, deployment gates, and secure delivery workflows.
- Operate and optimize Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), including cluster performance tuning, autoscaling, Helm-based deployments, and networking configurations.
- Manage and support Azure API Management, Azure App Gateway, and Azure Front Door to ensure secure and high-performance application delivery.
- Support event-driven architectures using Azure Event Hubs (including Kafka support) for real-time data processing and microservices communication.
- Own production reliability, including monitoring with Azure Monitor and Application Insights, incident response, and root cause analysis.
- Enforce cloud security best practices using Azure Entra ID, RBAC, Key Vault, Azure Policy, and container security controls.
- Collaborate with development teams to improve DevOps maturity, Git workflows, and cloud-native engineering practices.
- 6+ years of experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Engineering within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
- Strong hands-on expertise with Azure core services, including VNets, NSGs, load balancers, and storage solutions.
- Proven experience designing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code using Bicep or equivalent tools.
- Deep experience with AKS in production environments, including scaling, networking, and workload optimization.
- Solid knowledge of Azure APIM, App Gateway, and Event Hubs (Kafka integration preferred).
- Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Azure CLI, and/or Python.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, including identity management, vulnerability scanning, and secure CI/CD practices.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and product teams.
- Comfortable working independently in agile, fast-paced, remote environments.
- Azure certifications such as AZ-400 or AZ-305 are a plus.
- Experience with GitOps (Flux or ArgoCD), service meshes (Istio), or FinOps practices is a bonus.
