Senior Software Engineer (Tech Enablement Team)

Qualifications and Skills
  • You have a positive mindset: equal parts curious, collaborative, and can-do
  • minimum of 5 years of commercial software development experience in product development, DevOps, platform or SRE teams
  • Experience and opinions about several of the following:
  • AWS, particularly serverless architectures, Cloud-formation, Lambda, IAM, DynamoDB, and Aurora Postgres
  • Infrastructure as code tools and practices
  • CI/CD tooling and practices
  • Observability
  • Incident Management and on-call practices
  • Typescript, JavaScript and the Node.js ecosystem
  • React, React-Native and the expo ecosystem
  • A pragmatic and customer focused approach to collaboration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills built on a foundation of empathy for your fellow humans is essential
  • Your responsibilities
  • Make sustainable and high quality technical contributions across the stack in the areas of your speciality
  • Flexibly contribute outside your speciality in other areas of the stack supporting colleagues when they need it
  • Work collaboratively with your peers in product and across the wider company to ensure you're always shipping the right thing the right way at the right time
  • Mentor and support other members of the engineering team
  • Take high level ownership of technical design and project delivery

  • This is a full-time role to be based ideally from Melbourne, but we are also open to considering the right candidate anywhere within Australia.

    We are open to discussing 4 days a week or 9 days a fortnight once you're ramped up, if that's what you are looking for. 

    Amber is a remote first team; we have an office in the Melbourne CBD, where we work flexibly between the office and home. The vast majority of our team are located in Melbourne. For those based in Sydney, they catch up in a co-working space in the city every now and then, and rest of the locations in Australia work from home. While we don't expect people to attend the office, we do expect that people mostly work in the Melbourne time zone to maximise collaboration.

    • A take-home technical assignment that should take no longer than a few hours
    • A follow up technical interview with two members of the engineering team
    • A culture + final interview with one of our Engineering Managers and Director of Engineering
