Senior/Staff Backend Engineer
TLDR
Architect and scale real-time backend services for AI-native enterprise finance software, owning end-to-end design, deployment, and reliability.
- Design, build, and scale core backend systems supporting complex, real-time financial and ERP workflows.
- Develop robust APIs, services, and infrastructure using Python and modern backend frameworks.
- Own the full software lifecycle including architecture, development, testing, CI/CD pipelines, deployment, and post-release monitoring.
- Work closely with product teams to translate complex accounting and finance requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Manage and optimize databases including PostgreSQL, schema design, migrations, and performance tuning.
- Integrate third-party systems and external services while managing edge cases, reliability, and risk.
- Build and maintain production-grade systems capable of handling high complexity and evolving business logic.
- Continuously improve system performance, scalability, and reliability in a fast-moving environment.
- 5+ years of experience in backend engineering roles (language agnostic).
- Strong experience building scalable, production-grade backend systems with complex business logic.
- Proficiency with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar environments).
- Strong expertise in databases, including PostgreSQL, SQL, ORM frameworks, schema design, and data migrations.
- Experience designing and building robust APIs and backend services.
- Solid understanding of software engineering best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and production operations.
- Ability to work with evolving requirements in complex, high-scale systems.
- Experience in fast-paced, high-ownership engineering environments.
- Python experience with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django is a strong plus.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (C1+).
- Strong problem-solving mindset, curiosity, and ability to move quickly with high autonomy.
- Base salary range: USD $140,000 – $250,000
- Equity package: USD $50,000 – $80,000
