Location: We are a fully remote team distributed +/- 3hrs from London. We are able to hire from anywhere within these timezones.

The Role


We are looking for a passionate and creative Senior Treasury Manager who is experienced in international cash management and emerging market FX markets but also excited to build a next generation of FX systems. For us, Treasury is at the very core of what we do. This role enables customers payments and allows us to deliver on our USPs of being reliable and cheaper than our competitors. On one level, this role keeps NALA alive by understanding and controlling FX risk but we would also like you to keep another eye on the long term, thinking about playbooks for new market entries and ultimately launching into every marketing in Africa! As an early senior employee you will also be a leader in the company and help drive the wider NALA culture as we grow and scale.

Within the next year, we expect you will start to own the following tasks:

  • Be responsible for the strategy and execution of NALA’s cash management program by planning and distributing our user’s money where it needs to be at the right time.
  • Optimise NALA’s funding processes through FX trading. This will include building relationship with our partners, negotiating and executing trades with the best possible rates today but also in the long term.
  • Create a world class funding and FX system for cross currency movements.
  • Manage existing funding channels and explore new funding channels to reduce net cost of funding e.g. debt facilities or credit lines
  • Building and maintaining short and medium term cash flow forecasts for operational funds flows.
  • Collaborating on NALA's pricing strategy, market analysis, working with partner banks to ensure that the cash funding program is strategically aligned with the business.
  • Develop a repeatable playbook which NALA can use to launch in new markets.



Tech Stack and Existing Resources


  • We have banking partners all across the globe that we use for cash management including Citi Bank and a range of local banking partners across east, west, and south Africa.
  • Cash Management is currently using spreadsheets and internal systems, but we would love for you to help us migrate and design a more scalable system. We are open to both vendor solutions but ultimately we would love to build a proprietary in house solution

Is this you?

  • 5+ years experience in a financial institution, investment bank, financial advisory or fintech firm (preferably within a Treasury function)
  • Understanding of liquidity and capital regulations and risk management frameworks
  • Experience in implementing FX hedging strategies, managing debt instruments and optimising intercompany funds flow
  • Solid understanding of global financial markets, products, and key Treasury concepts with some knowledge and experience of their application in emerging African markets.
  • Experience managing relationships with a network of local banks to support our funding requirements
  • Experience managing client money requirements across the various countries that we operate in
  • You have experience working asynchronously with global teams using tools like Slack/Teams/Jira as well as other modern communication systems
  • You are passionate about either our product and the mission that we are on
  • You are are fluent in written and spoken English

Interview Process


Stage 0: Application Review

We fully recognise that interviewing is a time intensive thing and we are not in the business of wasting anyone's time. We have a super simple application process which requires just a CV, 3 application questions and an optional cover letter. We will predominantly use the CV and application questions to determine if you have the skills and motivation to work at NALA. If you would like add any other information that you think will be important, please feel free to use the cover letter to highlight this.

Stage 1: Talent Interview

This will be a 30min conversation with our Talent Team where we want to learn more about you and your experience. We will dig deeper into the responsibilities that you have held in the past, especially those relevant to these roles.

Stage 2: Technical Interview

This will be a 1hr interview with our COO and an external treasury expert. In this interview we want to delve deeper into your technical accounting knowledge and experience.

Stage 3: Leadership Interview
