Social Media Manager - Viva Latino/Country
Are you an experienced social expert, deeply knowledgeable of the social music landscape, spanning Rauw Alejandro’s global music standom to Dalton Dover’s rising star? Do you follow the producers behind Latin chart hits, anticipate every Country crossover collaboration, and rave about the future of Corridos Tumbados?
If so, Spotify is looking for a Social Media Manager like you to lead our social marketing efforts for the Latin music diaspora and Country fans through the full creative and executional management of @VivaLatino and @HotCountry.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for crafting thoughtful and innovative organic social media strategy and content campaigns to advance Spotify’s global efforts in making @VivaLatino the cultural compass for Latin Music fans; the same for @HotCountry in North America. From new releases to catalog support, artist marketing, playlist elevation and more, you’ll need to balance promotional priorities while building an authentic relationship with global Latinx and Country fandoms. We’re down to go beyond traditional social marketing channels to reach fans wherever they celebrate their favorite artists.
What does success look like? First, a demonstrated understanding that social media is a complex ecosystem that demands cross-functional collaboration - strategically, we’re going much deeper than an Instagram post with good copy. To that end, your success will also be measured by your ability to build positive relationships with collaborators across the business. Internal teams such as music marketing, artist & label partnerships, editorial and brand & creative will be paramount to your content calendar planning, for example, as will external agencies and industry partners.
What you'll do
- Be responsible for all social media touchpoints for the Latin & Country music fandoms, including: new releases, artist marketing, playlist campaigns, “always on” content planning, fan engagement strategies and community management.
- Handle high volume work streams, balancing in-house creative resources and external agencies (media, creative & insights)
- Work with regional social teams to deliver impactful creative strategy that’s appropriately localized, along with collaborating with regional counterparts on talent opportunities across multiple territories.
- Represent social marketing in cross-functional interactions with essential team members and high-visibility partners, including labels and artist teams.
- Present social marketing strategy, creative concepts and performance results to internal partners as well as external teams (agencies, artist & label teams).
- Write and post impactful copy (in both Spanish and English), that speaks authentically to our Latin and Country fandoms while being rooted in our Spotify global brand tone of voice.
- Attend cultural and Spotify-hosted events to capture content and post real-time event coverage.
- Identify significant ways for Spotify to participate in culture and fan conversations.
- Leverage a diverse mix of insights (audience, cultural, etc.) to inform creative strategies and effectively tell the story of social performance.
- Act as a social authority and trusted advisor in key areas, ranging from music genre expert to knowledge on the latest TikTok trend.
- Actively collaborate with the wider Global Social team leads to provide social support for Latin-focused global brand initiatives.
Who you are
- 4+ years of experience working in social media handling complex work streams.
- You are fluent in Spanish, as @VivaLatino is a Spanish-speaking account, along with a familiarity with various market “slang.” Think global Spanglish but make it authentic.
- You’re not only a social power user, you’re a marketing expert: you possess a keen understanding of how social media is used to meet important metrics. You are experienced in building social and community engagement strategies, copywriting and community/channel management.
- You are innately organized, with an ability to prioritize the demands of 360 campaign planning. You are the best project manager you know.
- You know how to capture and create on the fly when covering events IRL and leading remote shoots.
- You are culturally dialed all the way in. You know what’s trending, who’s making what trend and why others want to join in on the conversation.
- You have an ability to distill complex cultural moments and conversations into useful strategies and qualitative findings for peers.
- You are deeply aware of the responsibility that comes with leading social media for a global brand, as well as the nuance and implications that come with such responsibility.
- You love to collaborate and possess the ability to work with external collaborators and agency partners across a variety of marketing subject areas.
- You know what makes for excellent social creative and can confidently (and respectfully) communicate your point of view, ranging from feedback to selling a new idea.
- Creative or Media agency experience preferred.
- You are located in/willing to work in EST.
Where you'll be
- We are a distributed workforce enabling our band members to find a work mode that is best for them!
- Where in the world? For this role, it can be within the Americas region in which we have a work location and is within working hours.
- Working hours? We operate within the Eastern Standard time zone for collaboration and ask that all be available to work in EST.
