About the Team
At Nomad, the Engineering team is laying the foundation for revolutionary products in the realty space. Working across many different departments in the company, the Engineering team is responsible for solving real problems and providing great value to our owners and residents. The team is fully remote and distributed across the United States. Through great collaboration, the Engineering team at Nomad is greater than the sum of its parts.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Software Engineer. We’re a well-funded early stage startup and are expanding our engineering team and this is a critical hire. For this role, we’re open to full-stack developers and others who have experience or expertise in the technologies we use @ Nomad.
In this role, you’ll:
- Build solid software that solves real problems in the realty space, improving the owner and renter experience
- Collaborate closely with people in and outside of engineering to plan, design, and implement crucial products
- Learn new technologies, enhance your skill set and grow your career as a Software Engineer
- Have huge impact in the architecture and shape of our code ecosystem
- Iterate quickly but with purpose on an evolving product
At Nomad, we prioritize using the right technologies for the work and know that the list will evolve as we do. We currently use:
- Ruby on Rails
- React
- Gatsby
- Heroku
- Postgres
Who you are
Tool & Technologies:
- You choose the right technology for the job and understand when a tool is too complex for simple tasks
Skills & Capabilities:
- For this role, comfort working with or expertise in at least one of the technologies we use is key
- You have written production code before as part of a team
Interests & Motivations:
- You care about what you do and are passionate about progressing as a Software Engineer
- You feel accomplished when things get done and when you do it, you want to do it right
- You are open to new technologies, paradigms, patterns, and approaches to building software

Teams & Environments:
- You are thoughtful in your approach to software development, able to collaborate with a team, and are flexible with the technologies you work with
- You work well with a remote team
Education & Roles:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or Equivalent
- 3+ years of professional web development experience using Javascript or Ruby on Rails
Pay range: $110,00 - $135,000
