SPACE OPERATIONS NURSE - TEMPORARY

SpaceX is currently building the world's next human spaceflight capability. As a space operations nurse at SpaceX, you’ll assist in clinical care and public health promotion at SpaceX. You’ll work under the supervision of SpaceX flight surgeons and assist with occupational health and planning for SpaceX employees. SpaceX is seeking excellent, team-oriented medical professionals to help manage our high-volume COVID testing program. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead development and implementation of an onsite high-volume COVID testing program to ensure the safety of employees and crewmembers while maintaining operations
  • Simplify and automate COVID self-testing systems to improve accessibility and efficiency
  • Evaluate and vet third-party vendors for infectious disease mitigation and vaccination opportunities
  • Collaborate with academic institutions and/or private organizations on medical research projects.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to accomplish goals involving public health and occupational medicine involving SpaceX employees
  • Participate in occupational health surveillance and public health improvement projects for various SpaceX sites

POSITION DETAILS:

This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.

  • LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months
  • LOCATION: Cape Canaveral, FL
  • SHIFT: 1st shift, variable shift hours to cover testing from 5am to 7pm
  • Some travel to other SpaceX sites, specifically Cape Canaveral, FL and Boca Chica, TX, may be required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Certified Medical Assistant certification, Registered Nurse (RN) license, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license, or NREMT (National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians) license.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with clinical testing for infectious disease
  • Emergency room experience
  • Interest in working with interdisciplinary teams to solve complex problems
  • Able to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as technical writing proficiency

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Schedule flexibility is mandatory; weekend work may be necessary in certain situations

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
