Sr Customer Quality Engineer

$93,500 – $140,300 per year

TLDR

Lead customer quality programs across aerospace, defense, and marine accounts as a liaison between customers and internal teams, driving strategic improvements with high visibility and ownership.

Accountabilities
  • Act as the primary quality representative for a portfolio of key customers, ensuring all customer quality requirements and expectations are met.
  • Review customer contracts and quality requirements, including performance targets, complaint management expectations, certification requirements, and first article inspection processes.
  • Communicate customer-specific quality expectations across internal teams and manufacturing sites through training, guidance, and ongoing collaboration.
  • Monitor and evaluate customer quality performance metrics, including complaints, defect rates, response times, and corrective action effectiveness.
  • Lead customer scorecard reviews and contribute to strategic improvement plans aimed at enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and maintain customer-specific quality improvement initiatives, driving systematic and sustainable performance enhancements.
  • Champion Voice of the Customer programs and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address customer concerns and improve the customer experience.
  • Support manufacturing sites and distribution centers in problem-solving activities, ensuring timely and effective resolution of quality issues.
  • Manage escalated customer quality events, formal improvement programs, audits, and corrective action follow-up activities.
  • Analyze internal and external quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate customer audits and oversee the resolution of non-conformances to ensure successful closure and compliance.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Business, or a related technical field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in quality management, quality engineering, or a related discipline.
    • At least 3 years of experience working directly with manufacturing operations and production environments.
    • Proven experience leading quality improvement initiatives and driving measurable performance enhancements.
    • Strong knowledge of quality methodologies, including PPAP, corrective actions, problem-solving techniques, quality systems, customer-specific requirements, and Lean practices.
    • Experience supporting customer audits, complaint resolution processes, and continuous improvement programs.
    • Understanding of aerospace, defense, and marine industry quality standards is highly desirable.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management capabilities.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.
    • Ability to travel approximately 25%–50% as required.
    • Experience working within complex global organizations is considered an advantage.
