SCOPE OF ROLE
Bright Health’s Product team will support the definition and creation of products across the Bright Health Group portfolio of companies. This position will help Bright build tools to solve healthcare problems and distinguish Bright in the marketplace. The person is expected to be able to distill business problems into scalable tech product solutions and translate them to engineering build requirements. They will own several products throughout the lifecycle, from development & build, to UAT, rollout, and maintenance. The role will determine success metrics and track them over the product lifecycle. They should be comfortable in ambiguous situations and working with many partner teams.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
This role will own the strategic and tactical execution of product development with business and technical stakeholders, creating experiences for consumers and providers. This role will oversee the prioritization of several engineering and data science scrum teams to bring a product vision to life. Responsibilities will include:
- Own large-scale projects. Break them into phases and track completion
- Determine business requirements for products
- Create backlog items for engineering based on business requirements
- Determine acceptance requirements for backlog items
- Attend scrums to ensure timeline completion of projects
- Develop reporting metrics and tools for products
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This hire will not have direct reports but will coordinate multiple cross-functional activities and exercise “soft power” to influence across teams. There will be future opportunities for growth and to supervise others as the product team grows.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
- BA/BS degree in a business or technical field, or equivalent practical experience; Master’s degree preferred
- 5+ years at a healthcare technology company, pure technology company, or technology or strategy consulting firm
- Experience coordinating multiple cross-functional teams and initiatives, ideally through an Agile framework
- Demonstrated leadership in product definition and implementation
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Aha! a plus
PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES
- Strong project management skills and excellent organizational and communication skills
- Strong understanding of typical software development processes; working knowledge of agile software development methodology
- Demonstrate superb decision-making skills by engaging experts while determining alternatives and quickly synthesizing information, deriving insights, and devising solutions
- Excellent team player with the ability to consistently demonstrate the highest levels of professionalism, integrity, mutual respect, and accountability to others; ability to maintain strong relationships across key stakeholders and constituents
- Start-up mentality and comfortable innovating at a fast pace
- Understanding of the conceptual, strategic, and technical aspects of an issue. Capable of grasping these concepts quickly and translating the impacts to the client.
- Must be self-motivated, proactive, and able to work well under pressure
LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS
- Product management training or certifications are a plus
- Licensures and certifications are not required for this role
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Remote.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
