Senior UX Researcher/Strategist
We’re looking for inspiring and dynamic UX Research & Strategy thought leaders to build Lucid with us. If working on complex, multi-platform digital/physical challenges like in-car HMI digital and hardware systems, infotainment, voice, touch, and mobile apps, get you charged up, we want to hear from you. This role is based at Headquarters in Newark, CA.
The Role
- Serve as an advocate for users with a lens towards brand, business, design, and technology
- Work in a highly collaborative fashion as a strategic partner to business leads, product managers, designers, and engineers to conduct complex multi-phase, mixed-method studies that deepen our understanding of the user experience and define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for our products by grounding these decisions in user needs and insights
- Oversee, collaborate, and prioritize research needs and approaches across multiple work streams to work on the right project, scale, and scope at the right time and ensure impact by delivering actionable insights
- Substantiate the designers' work and the decisions behind them and advocate for a user-centered framing of company strategy and product building. Lead critical research efforts and conduct complex multi-phase, mixed-method studies that deepen our understanding of the user experience and drive product strategy
- Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to create actionable insights across the product development lifecycle, including UX testing of early prototypes, such as concept validation, usability, IDI’s and group interviews, surveys, and more...
- Apply complex research methods appropriate to the questions at hand, from generative to evaluative, adapting methods as needed to align the organization and product needs
- Provide thought leadership to partners and decision-makers at all levels of the organization, effectively communicating durable insights through writing, presentations, and conversations to build consensus and persuade action based on findings
- Work closely with design, product management, and cross-function teams to develop innovative end-to-end solutions that address top outcomes. Iteratively evaluate these solutions until outcomes are achieved or hypotheses are proven wrong, informing and aligning on any trade-offs
- Share best practices & new techniques with the UX Research, Design, and PM teams and ensure that the quality of data, analysis & reporting supports the needs of our teams and organization
- Scale UX research by enabling other team members to be research capable— Provide product teams with tools and best practices for discovering and acting on user insights on their own in consultation with researchers
- Lead research operations, documentation, participant management (screening, recruiting, scheduling, incentivization)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience conducting user research in an applied setting, including end-to-end experience with all aspects of research (e.g., study design, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting)
- Experience working as a user research lead on multiple projects, managing end-to-end research initiatives
- Experience with a full range of research methods: qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioral, with deep expertise in one or more areas. Includes in-person lab and field studies, remote moderated and unmoderated studies, research for multiple devices and form factors, and a strong grasp of quantitative data analysis and statistics.
- Online portfolio of work samples demonstrating the ability to plan and execute impactful user research, and to extract actionable insights from qualitative and quantitative data.
- Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, empathetic mindset, collaborative.
- A commitment to providing actionable insights to cross-domain teams.
- Eagerness to take on new responsibilities.
- Excellent communication and comprehension skills.
- Detail-oriented and highly precise. Flexible, proactive, attention to detail, and inclination to contribute with strong critical thinking and common sense.
- Experience with at least 1 physical & digital product research study (not just mobile or tablet)
- Automotive & transportation industry experience or have worked on IoT or other complex physical & digital product or start-up experience.
- Experience with a variety of research tools and platforms; Eye Tracking Glasses, Research platforms, e.g. UserTesting(.com), UserInterviews(.com), Qualtrics, and Tableau
- Verbal and written skills in English.
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in experimental psychology, cognitive science, human-computer interaction or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
