Staff Engineer

Our Customer Platform Team at Constant is looking for a Staff Engineer who will report into the Senior Director of Platform Engineering, leading and growing a team responsible for building out core functionalities related to resource provisioning, account management, and billing. The ideal candidate is a thoughtful remote leader with experience developing both individuals and technical strategy in the PaaS or SaaS space. This is an individual contributor role with a long-term track into management – an opportunity for a leadership-minded engineer to grow into a manager role as the team expands.

What you will take on:

• Take on strategic ownership over two of our core customer-facing domains: instance provisioning and accounts and billing.
• Work with the Director of Platform Engineering to expand the team
• Take on 5-10 direct reports over time
• Work to continue to strengthen core product offerings related to authentication, user management, billing, and resource provisioning
• Contribute to professional development plans, competency rubrics, and hiring processes
• Help developing engineers work through new processes related to documentation and quality in software development
• Interface with project management, product management, and technical leaders in prioritizing workloads
• Work with a cross-functional team to develop a program that supports entry-level technical workers transitioning internally to engineering roles

Requirements

Our new team member will need:

• Experience working with payment processing libraries such as Stripe and Paypal
• Working knowledge of virtualization technology such as libvirt, kvm, qemu
• Experience with image building technology such as Packer
• Experience with of basic authentication functionality and OAuth2
• Comfortability working in a polyglot environment. We use PHP, Python, and Go.
• Experience leading teams in a SaaS, PaaS, or CSP environment
• Experience using modern documentation and project management tooling (Atlassian suite preferred)

Salary Range: $120-160K

This salary can vary based on location, years of experience, background and skill set.
