Beyond 12 is a national technology-enabled organization launched in 2010 to dramatically increase the number of students from under-resourced communities who graduate from college and translate their degrees into meaningful employment and choice-filled lives. Beyond 12 is looking for Student Advisory Board members for the 2023-2024 school year. As a Student Advisory Board (SAB) member, you will collaborate with the Beyond 12 team and inform products, services, and strategic projects to help the organization achieve its ambitious goal of serving one million first-generation students annually by 2030.
You Will
- Participate in quarterly SAB and Board of Directors meetings, ad-hoc in-person or virtual organization events, monthly collaborative meetings, and media opportunities (as needed) to provide input, feedback, and perspective on Beyond 12 offerings. Beyond 12 will cover transportation costs for in-person events.
- Create social media content, in collaboration with Beyond 12’s content team, to reach current students and provide relevant and timely information for their college success.
- Inform the student-facing content, products, and services strategy to ensure the organization best serves our student population.
- Amplify Beyond 12’s work in the movement for education justice and share your experience by writing one blog post for the B12 Blog.
Requirements
You Are
- Enrolled in college for the 2023-24 academic year
- At a sophomore (2 semesters) standing or higher
- Someone with a demonstrated ability to be creative and an eye for design and detail
- Someone with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Someone with experience and/or understanding of digital content creation and social media trends
- Someone that can work independently and with cross-functional teams

You Receive
This role is a contract position, lasting from October 2023 - May 2024 (with the possibility of extension). SAB members must commit up to 20 hours per month (5 hours/week), with some months being shorter due to the holidays (i.e., November and December). Compensation for this role is $25 per hour. Your work will mostly be remote, with some in-person events (Beyond 12 will cover transportation). This position reports to the Chief of Staff to the CEO, Senior Director.
