Systems Engineer II - Sr DBA DevOps Engineer

Summary: We are looking for Systems engineer to work in Infrastructure Database Engineering Team. The infrastructure database Engineering team will actively involve in design; develop all database related activities used by Tesco Technology across our data centres. In this role system engineer will design and implementation of continuous integration; continuous delivery; automate database offerings/ releases and deployments in Public Cloud like Azure and On-prem

Responsibilities:

• Participates in Project meetings ; design reviews and implement solutions based on business requirements as per Tesco standards
• Closely cooperate with second level support service team(s); provide third level support
• Actively work on automation wherever possible (maintenance; release management; monitoring; backups/recovery/refreshes ..)
• Define and implement database strategy; Capacity Planning and security standards; keep products on latest possible versions
• Drives IT solutions to ensure they meet the business needs balanced with a pragmatic and integrated approach to the design of technical solutions.
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security; privacy and integrity
• Determine; enforce and document database policies; procedures and standards
• Performs complex analyses and reviews applications being released into production.
• Provide your professional knowledges and skills to DEVS during the developments; analyze and tune the code; ensure that development satisfy Tesco standards
• Provide a strategic database direction for the organisation
• Working in a cross-cultural team and communicate effectively

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience with full familiar with any one of the database administration like MS SQL; Oracle ; PostgreSQL ; Couchbase ; DB2 
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in automation using Terraform/Python in database operations.
• Any exposure of database like NoSQL would be advantage
• Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
• Evaluate and test new features/functionality Advanced instance; sql tunning skills; database security and encryption knowledges
• Familiar with HA/DR concepts and solutions
• Have overall IT; infrastructure; programming knowledges and be able to work in DevOps environment
• Beneficial knowledges : Application servers; Oracle Financials; Exadata; DB2;MS SQL; webservices (REST/SOAP/JSON); Ansible; Hadoop; NOSQL
• Providing technical assistance
• Fluent English communication skills
• Setup and maintain documentation and standards
