Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Tax Manager will lead and manage multiple operations of the corporate taxation function.
In this role you will primarily be responsible for accurately preparing and filing various compliance tax documents while also providing support with tax strategy and policy to help maintain compliance with various jurisdictions globally.  

Role Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing global income tax compliance
  • Manage worldwide legal entity tax filings and statutory filings including being the main point of contact for local authorities and service providers
  • Communicate with tax authorities and main point of contact for global income tax audits
  • Review indirect tax filing compliance including US state sales tax and Canadian HST
  • Prepare income tax continuity schedules income tax provision working papers, including supporting memorandums where required and transfer pricing entries
  • Work with the Director of Finance and Controller to research current tax issues, assess the impact of changes in legislation and pro-actively assess and manage global tax risk
  • Provide support to the legal team with corporate compliance
  • Support implementation of appropriate taxation procedures, policies, and processes
  • Perform special projects as required including some accounting analyst related responsibilities during the initial months of this role

Qualifications

  • CPA designation with post-secondary Education in Business Accounting or Finance
  • 3+ years of tax experience
  • ·       Knowledge and experience with Canadian income tax regulations and the preparation of Canadian income tax returns
    ·       Experience with the preparation of income tax working papers
    ·       Knowledge of Canadian indirect tax regulations
  • Knowledge of foreign tax regimes including indirect tax regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills in order to manage issues, projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems with innovative and creative solutions
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Diplomacy, tact, and professionalism when interacting with all team members
