Netflix
Technical Program Manager, Mergers and Acquisitions
Netflix is the world's leading streaming entertainment service with over 200 million paid memberships in over 190 countries, enjoying TV series, documentaries, and feature films across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on any internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments. This continuous growth is also fueled by the acquisition of new businesses to help us entertain the world. In support, the Technology Management Services (TMS) team facilitates the integration of newly acquired businesses onto corporate technology platforms. To that end, TMS is partnering with many other Netflix teams to orchestrate and execute all the tech work involved post-acquisition. And that’s where you come in.
TMS is in search of a Technical Program Manager (TPM) to lead our Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) strategy for the technical integration of new business entities. The primary goal of the TPM will be to orchestrate the work required of several cross-functional partners to ensure all aspects of the technical integration are completed in a safe, secure, and timely manner. One of the desired outcomes will be to streamline our M&A approach over time so that the process is transparent, smooth, and predictable all around.
Your intended impact
As a Technical Program Manager at Netflix, you’ll lean on your technical expertise to lead multiple cross-functional M&A projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to align on goals, negotiate timelines, identify risks, and communicate clearly with many other teams across the company. Here’s more context regarding the strategic objectives of the TPM followed by the skills and background we’re after for this role.
- Produce a cohesive vision for the technical integration of newly acquired businesses. Based on feedback and direction from business stakeholders, the TPM will cast a compelling vision that describes the desired journey and outcomes for a new company that’s been acquired by Netflix so that these expectations are clearly understood by the people doing the technical integration work as well as by the people being introduced to the Netflix platform and application ecosystem.
- Manage the intake of new projects and their prioritization. The TPM will also provide a central point of contact for business partners to discuss and initiate new M&A projects that will require integration with Netflix technology services. The TPM will also enable the subsequent rationalization and prioritization. This would include project backlog management.
- Facilitate resource planning and coordinate project work. Once a project is scoped and its goals well defined, the TPM will consult cross-functional partners (in and outside of TMS) to determine resources and assess the level of effort required for the project's success. This will include identifying technology leads and facilitating connections between acquired companies & technology leads.
- Mitigate delivery risks. The TPM will monitor all technology integration work to ensure that roadblocks and interdependencies are resolved to achieve successful delivery.
- Manage communication with internal and external partners. Integral to the program's success will be maintaining constant communication and a healthy feedback loop between all partners and collaborators. The TPM will also provide tailored context and communication to ensure the success of projects and the program at large.
- Templatize technical integration plans. As our teams build experience and capture learnings from M&A projects, the TPM will help develop systems and workflow templates to help standardize future planning and execution for these types of projects.
Your Skills & Experience
- At least 5 years of applied experience managing technology projects or programs relevant to mergers and acquisitions of new companies
- Strong and relevant program or project management skills within a technology services team context (preferably at a company with a global workforce)
- Project experience working with cross-functional engineering teams to drive the design and execution of technology solutions
- Exemplary facilitation skills when it comes to managing communication and priorities with multiple partners and stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (e.g., able to draft memos, reference documentation, and flow charts to explain business workflows)
- Experience leading projects that include the implementation and/or integration of SaaS products (e.g., working with vendors and internal technical teams to enable APIs or Single-sign On integration)
