User Research Intern

Responsibilities:

As a user researcher intern at Coinbase, Inc., you’ll work closely with other researchers, designers, and product managers to test hypotheses about our audience and validate new product designs, as well as support regular ongoing research activities. You will work directly on Coinbase, Inc. products and will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to:

• Coordinate and execute user research plans
• Lead user interviews
• Test design prototypes
• Compile and maintain documentation and recordings
• Coordinate internal research communications
• Provide support to the user research team

We’re looking for someone who has a desire to learn more about the field of user experience research. You’ll get direct, hands-on experience with shaping product design activities at Coinbase, as well as learn research methods from our team of seasoned researchers.

You are an empathetic people person with a keen observer’s eye and an inquisitive spirit. Your project management is sharp as a tack, and you regularly find ways to streamline process. You genuinely enjoy listening to and learning from others, and see feedback as an opportunity to grow. You are a champion for objectivity and not afraid to question your own biases or speak up for what you believe in. You thrive in fast-paced environments where you support several projects and many competing priorities simultaneously. You are good at breaking down and analyzing complex concepts, and are effective at communicating them to a diverse audience.

Requirements: 

• Currently enrolled at a 4-year university, or recent graduate within the past 6 months
• Interns are required to complete full 12-weeks from their start date
• Background in psychology, research, data analysis, QA/testing, engineering, or another analytical field. Background in user experience, human factors, or human-computer interaction a plus
• A desire to grow a career in the field of user experience research
• Solid understanding of good experimental design (controlled variables, statistical significance, etc)
• Superb user-facing skills and professional demeanor
• Comfort with talking to, and empathizing with, a diverse range of customers
• Ability to follow high-level directions and execute complex tasks with minimal oversight
• Solid project management skills with impressive attention to detail
• Experience with interviewing or customer service is a plus (tech support, journalism, broadcasting, etc.)
