Vice President, Audience Growth & Development

Forbes is looking for a highly experienced and entrepreneurial audience development leader to support growth across all segments of the company (media, brand extension and consumer). This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic leader and strategic thinker to take a senior and highly visible role in the company. This individual will be primarily responsible for traffic, building the “right audiences” for key business initiatives including the development of digital communities, as well as drive our overall audience growth strategy. The head of audience development will collaborate cross-functionally with partners in Editorial, Product, Consumer Marketing, Engineering and Sales to align our organization around the audience growth opportunities required to meet our top-level goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and execute a cohesive audience development strategy that supports all business segments at Forbes including Media, Brand Extensions and Consumer.
  • Lead strategy, execution, and optimization of multi-channel audience development efforts, and own and oversee overall Forbes.com traffic and audience.
  • Constantly track, analyze and monitor traffic trends, behavioral data and competitive landscape to constantly optimize traffic and identify new audience growth opportunities. Collaborate with data and insights team to improve measurement of traffic and audiences.
  • Responsible for identifying and executing new growth opportunities for traffic. Work closely across all stakeholders to determine audience growth goals, set audiences testing plans, and optimize and grow organic traffic. Develop and execute plans to improve traffic quality and ensure Forbes is maximizing its traffic sources
  • Oversee SEO team and set strategy on all technical SEO initiatives. Provide consistent data to our product and engineering teams on site performance and optimization. Work with editorial and business teams to establish SEO content plans that support business objectives. Ensure implementation of SEO best practices across Forbes.com.
  • Collaborate and provide recommendations to social team to help drive and increase traffic from established and emerging social platforms back to Forbes.com.
  • Lead strategy and develop new partnerships with content aggregation platforms. Explore new distribution platforms and partner with editorial to leverage the right content for those platforms.
  • Collaborate with onsite growth team, consumer marketing and product to drive overall audience development testing strategy— including consumer conversion funnel optimization, increase audience engagement and subscriber acquisition.
  • Collaborate with commerce team to grow traffic and conversion for affiliate revenue-driving content.
  • Oversee community development on key emerging platform such as telegram, discord, and twitter, to support our Web3 efforts
  • Hire, onboard, develop and lead top audience development talent

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience, with a robust understanding of digital media publishing.
  • Proven experience in successfully growing audience at a leading publisher.
  • Exceptionally digitally savvy, with robust analytical, quantitative, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Deep understanding of all audience development channels – SEO, social, newsletter, and partnerships.
  • Undergraduate degree in a related field (journalism, communications, marketing, analytics, business) required. Graduate degree a plus.
  • Detailed knowledge of major web and traffic performance and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Looker, Chartbeat, Lighthouse, etc.
  • Deep understanding of traffic acquisition channels, google, social, content aggregators and emerging platforms.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present ideas to all levels of management, including c-suite executives and Editorial leadership.

The annual base salary range for this role is $225,000 - $250,000.

Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith.  The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate.  In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally.
