What does a VP, Associate Creative Director of Copy do?
As our VP, Associate Creative Director of Copy, you will be a hands-on producer and you will also supervise the development of high-level, quality HCP, patient and medical communications materials to meet the strategic and messaging goals of our clients. You will lead in the areas of creative and message development and presentation, client relations, cross-department idea generation and team creative oversight. You will possess superior writing skills, fastidious attention to detail and an ability to manage small teams of creatives and freelancers. A knowledge of pharmaceutical advertising and experience in communicating to an HCP audience is vital (payer audience is a plus).
We are a team of collaborators who jump in and all get our hands dirty; you will be writing, you will lead strategy, you will be doing mark-ups on our e-routing system. We are looking for a leader who can guide others to develop their craft.
Ideally, we would like to identify a candidate who is based on the West Coast (we are open to you performing your work remotely as long as you can work flexibly across time zones, and are open to travel about two to three times per month). We will want this leader to have face time with clients and their direct reports who are mostly based in California.
Core Responsibilities:
- Creates high-quality content and generates new and innovative ideas alongside content partners and under the supervision of the Creative Director and Managing Director, Creative
- Partners with members of the Client Services, Strategy and Digital teams as a key strategic partner
- Has a full view of the strategic plan for the client
- Understands the needs and motivations of key managed market stakeholders and how to translate that across a wide range of reimbursement materials
- Develops and oversees the development of content, conveying the key clinical and economic value of products
- Keeps all work consistent and adheres to brand guidelines and strategy
- Contributes to strategic and tactical planning
- Is a persuasive client ambassador
- Elevates the quality of the creative product on her/his teams and brands
- Supports the pursuit of organic and new business opportunities through research and analysis
- Inspires professional development of staff
- Consults with Creative, Client Services, Operations and other agency team members as necessary to achieve agency objectives
- As a people leader with EVERSANA ENGAGE, you will be responsible for delivering excellent business results through the efforts of your teams. These results are achieved by:
- Working as part of an agency team to achieve the client's objectives through strategically sound concepts and impactful message strategies
- Using presentation skills to enhance the agency-client relationship
- Maintaining consistently high standards of writing with minimal supervision
- Writing effective copy aligned to brand strategy for a variety of managed markets stakeholders (i.e., commercial, government, employer, long-term care, health systems)
- Incorporating feedback, comments and changes from senior copy team and cross-functional partners while adhering to timelines and due dates
- Referencing and annotating copy in preparation for medical/legal/regulatory review in a deadline-focused environment
- Travel (40% or as needed, post COVID)
- Hours 40-45 hours/week
What are we looking for?
- Six or more years agency/medical writing experience in an HCP pharmaceutical agency
- Passion for science and medicine
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, pharmaceutical advertising, life sciences, public health, related field or equivalent education plus professional experience required
- Must be adept at managing referencing and annotations for complex program communications; experience with pharmaceutical submissions, including brand, medical/legal and FDA
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience in Dermatology and Aesthetics a plus
- Working knowledge of reimbursement and managed market, trends and terminology
- Experience writing for payer and healthcare professional audiences preferred
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and a strong command of the English language
- Proficient in American Medical Association (AMA) style
- Familiarity with FDA/DDMAC regulations and guidelines
- Ability to research and distill clinical and economic data
- Established editing and proofreading skills
- Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Must be able to meet client and agency timelines and flourish in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
- Ability to think both creatively and strategically
- High-level interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
- Ability to obtain the necessary direction on projects and set expectations accordingly
- Strong portfolio of client work demonstrating a strong understanding of client objectives and strategies
- Dynamic, creative personality able to effectively engage and influence a variety of audiences
- Leadership abilities across teams and departments
