The VP Creative will lead a talented in-house creative team and own brand strategy as it relates to all consumer visible touch points.  This role, which will report to the SVP Marketing, will be responsible for translating our brand vision into compelling brand experiences.  The VP Creative will be an innovative creative director with demonstrated experience in creating brand identity and driving culturally relevant marketing campaigns across different media for recognizable brands.  The VP Creative is both a visual and strategic thinker who excels at understanding business opportunities and translating them into creative enterprises. The VP Creative will lead a team of seven employees and demonstrate cross-functional influencing skills within a complex, fast-moving and high growth organization.

Casper (casper.com) was created to re-imagine sleep from the ground up, beginning with its obsessively engineered, outrageously comfortable mattress. All of Casper’s sleep products — including its pillow, bedding, and furniture — are developed in-house by the company’s award-winning R&D team in San Francisco. When you’re not catching zzz’s, this is what you’ll do

  • Establish and own creative direction that evolves and distinguishes the Casper brand, being obsessed with the brand’s purpose, consistency and legitimacy
  • Develop concepts for multi-platform, multi-channel projects that meet global business objectives
  • Lead the Creative Marketing team, defining quarterly goals that help to advance reaching company objectives, ensuring role clarity, accountability and delegation
  • Translate marketing, creative, and strategic objectives into branded assets that drive prospective and customer engagement, adapting to different channels, geographical markets
  • Direct seasonal brand campaigns, product launches, marketing and social media content, multi-channel sales collateral and product storytelling, new retail fixture programs as well as other creative endeavors
  • Advocate for creative direction and output with C-suite
  • Monitor creative output ensuring direct reports are effectively managing goals and priorities within their scope and areas of accountability.  Streamline existing processes and develop new initiatives that both encourage change and efficiency, while providing structure and stability for the creative team
  • Build relationships and collaborate cross-functionally with peers in leadership
  • Evaluate talent and develop staffing plans to support the business demands. Act as a coach and mentor to employees, providing them with career broadening opportunities
  • Provide expertise and industry perspective where technology, retail and lifestyle culture meet with culturally-relevant concepts and campaigns responsible for growing brand equity and awareness, while driving results
  • Effectively manage creative marketing budgets and forecast budgets needed to produce the content ideas being put in market. Ensure the creative can be produced while maintaining strong margins, partnering with growth marketing and creative operations

  • 15+ years working in strategic communications for lifestyle, category-relevant product or retail brands, both in-house and in agency, ideally with an omnichannel brand
  • Experience overseeing all elements of creative development and production
  • 5+ years leading and developing creative talent across all areas of expertise 
  • Proven track record of influencing up and across in matrixed organizations to deliver results
  • Proficient in working internationally and adapting content to meet local market needs
  • A compelling storyteller with a clear talent for managing the delivery of concise, emotional and thoughtful work both strategically and creatively
  • Has a point of view yet champions collaboration in their team and across departments
  • The highest professional and ethical standards
