Warehouse Lead

TLDR

Directs day-to-day warehouse operations, ensuring inventory accuracy and leading the implementation of the inventory management system in a large manufacturing facility.

Role – Local Roots has an immediate opportunity for a Warehouse Lead in our 180k sq. ft. manufacturing facility located in Vernon, CA. Reporting to the Director of Procurement, this position will collaboratively work with the team and staff to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and controls are maintained within the warehouse and subject to continuous improvement. Additionally, The Warehouse Lead will provide supervision of day-to-day operations including receiving, stocking, shipping and all transactions related to those activities. This person will also ensure the efficiency and the accuracy of stocking and organizing parts inventory as well as own the implementation and management of the inventory management system.

 

ResponsibilitiesYou should be confident making significant contributions in the following categories:

  • Responsible for assistance in setting up and maintaining the warehouse layout and overall flow
  • Manage the inbound and outbound shipments of finished goods, raw materials, chemicals and gases and components
  • Control inventory levels and execution of processes by conducting physical counts, reconciling with the inventory management system, and optimizing the speed and flow of inventory within the facility
  • Maintain physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting, and maintaining equipment, and issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement
  • Establish appropriate warehouse demand forecasting processes, implement warehouse materials forecasting methodologies that maximize forecast accuracy
  • Manage space optimization within the distribution center
  • Implement policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and integrity of inventory data used across the manufacturing facility
  • Maintain key performance objectives for on time delivery for all outbound shipments to end customers
  • Comply with Federal, State, and local warehousing, material handling and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions
  • Safeguard warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols management strategies, processes, issues, and opportunities at the site
  • Establish and implement s processes to ensure the timely disposition of waste and excess materials
  • Ensure the use and updating of receiving, selection and loading software systems
  • Resolve process issues related to materials management, warehousing, production control, logistics, distribution, and returns of finished goods and sub-assemblies

 

Requirements Your background should include the following:

  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Warehouse Operations or Materials Management in a fast-paced warehouse or distribution center environment, preferably manufacturing-related
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college
  • Excellent understanding of Inventory Management concepts and standards
  • Advanced experience successfully using MRP/ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage and track transactional details
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, strong team orientation, and proven ability to communicate effectively to all levels of management required
  • Able to work independently on multiple tasks and projects with various teams including service and supply chain personnel in a lean principles environment
  • Proven ability to provide leadership and motivation to a large group of warehouse personnel
  • Excellent customer service skills required
  • Knowledge of proper lifting technique and ability to lift at least 30 lbs with ease
