About The Women's Equality Center

The Women's Equality Center complements and strengthens the work of organizations in Latin America via capacity building grants, integrated policy and communications campaigns, and rapid-response operations to develop long-term and big-picture messaging frameworks around emerging issues and political opportunities linked to reproductive freedom and justice. We work behind the scenes, foregrounding the work of the people and organizations focused on reproductive freedom leading the fight on the front lines — and providing critical communications and campaign strategy support where it’s urgently needed.

About the Role

The Associate Director of Partner Operations (English/Spanish bilingual) will serve as key member of the Operations team, work closely with the Program team, and serve as an operational liaison to WEC’s Latin American partners and/or programs team. This position is responsible for managing the administration and execution of contracts, grants (incoming and outgoing), and invoices with WEC’s partners and ensuring that all parties are well coordinated and share understanding of all U.S.-based contract and payment requirements for our partnership agreements. The Associate Director of Partner Operations will be someone well-versed in operations and compliance work, with the ability to discuss and educate all parties on legal and compliance requirements in both English and Spanish.

The Associate Director of Partner Operations will support WEC operational partner onboarding while maintaining working knowledge of WEC’s programmatic engagements and initiatives, in order to ensure cross-functional efficiency. They will ensure deadlines are met and delivered in alignment with the team’s core values. The person in this role can expect to wear many hats as they keep projects moving forward and implement best-in-class operations.

The ideal candidate for this role will be a skilled facilitator, collaborator, and project manager, working on a range of cross-organizational issues and efforts that strengthen and enhance key operational and administrative functions. Successful candidates for this role will possess the skills and abilities to comfortably work independently and across teams, leveraging clear communication and thoughtful relationship management to implement work in an organization that expects partnership and collaboration. As part of a highly collaborative group that values experimentation and learning, this role is a critical component of ensuring the success of our team’s work.

The Associate Director of Partner Operations will report to the Senior Director, Finance & Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key operational contact point to WEC’s Latin American partners and vendors, communicating in written and verbal Spanish and English.
  • Provide support for WEC’s partner management operations, including:
  • Overseeing and managing contract, grants (incoming and outgoing), and vendor logistics management, legal compliance, vendor diversity and inclusion policy, and appropriate payment methods
  • Work with the WEC Program team and/or serve as the contract/vendor information first responder and reviewer/editor for project paperwork.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets as well as vendor contracts, grants and invoices.
  • Work with WEC’s project teams on contract review and management, including:
    • Ensuring the efficient and timely execution of contracts;
    • Checking for which legal entity has standing in a contract, if a contract is within budget, and any other flags that relate to executing a new contract (i.e., duplicate contracts, alternative vendors, previous vendors we’ve worked with);
    • Maintaining systems for tracking and monitoring contracts; and
    • Oversight and execution of contract invoicing processes.
  • Liaise with WEC’s fiscal sponsor and program team to ensure all operational policies are followed, including contracts, grants and invoice processing.
  • Manage systems and calendars for coordinating grant applications and renewals, reporting, and other related functions, and ensuring on-time completion of all necessary grant management processes.
  • Manage, and/or support both partner and internal meetings and events.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Relevant Experience. 6+ years of professional experience (we are background agnostic and are excited by candidates with unique and different work histories).
  • Excellent communicator and collaborator. The person in this role must be comfortable communicating in both written and verbal Spanish and English, including the ability to translate complex topics into simple language. They can participate appropriately in executive settings and tailor communications to a range of internal colleagues and external partners with diverse cultural backgrounds, including those not familiar with U.S. contexts or requirements.
  • Highly organized, Motivated, and Detail-oriented. You have a track record of being able to see the big picture while still managing the small details. Has deep project management experience with both cross-functional internal teams and external partners. Has or can create a system for keeping tasks from slipping through the cracks. Able to juggle competing demands and prioritize without sacrificing quality. Plans backwards to make deadlines. You see mistakes as learning opportunities and ask for help when needed
  • Experience with contract and grant execution and management in nonprofit entities. Experience with vendor setup, terms negotiation, and liaising with legal and program departments. Ability to differentiate between 501c3 and 501c4 qualifying activities.
  • Excellent Judgment. You excel at considering many viewpoints, working to resolve divergent opinions of various stakeholders through clear communication, prioritization and savvy decision-making. You safeguard sensitive information and prioritize maintaining confidentiality when appropriate. The Associate Director role will function at the nexus of many stakeholders, with the ability to manage up, down, and across the organization to advance work as desired.
  • An Operations Mindset. A combination of experience and passion for operations, with the ability to think big picture while holding the details front and center. You experience joy from improving processes that further organizational impact, leveraging a design-thinking mindset that balances operational effectiveness with a positive user experience.
  • Mission-driven. A strong desire to contribute to the mission of the Women's Equality Center, an understanding of issues impacting Latin American countries, and a personal commitment to abortion access and women’s reproductive rights.

Location and Travel

This is a US based position, though we are location agnostic regarding where in the US the candidate is located.

You will need to travel both domestically and internationally, up to 12% of the time, some of which may occur over weekends or holidays.

Benefits

The Women's Equality Center compensation philosophy was created to assure equity in staff compensation. The salary range for this position is $90,000 to $115,208. We utilize a points-based offer system in order to eliminate bias, and as a result, we give our best offer up front, on which we do not negotiate. Candidates with less than 6 years of experience would receive an offer closer to the low-end, those with much more experience will end up closer to the high-end.
