Job Summary: This role will be responsible for general ledger accounting, monthly close and/or entity accounting processes with a focus on quality and continuous improvement. This position typically works under supervision and direction

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

This role involves assisting senior accountants with tasks such as:

  • Maintains the general ledger of Cubic subsidiaries
  • Prepares monthly financial statements and supporting schedules 
  • Reconciles general ledger accounts 
  • Prepares account analyses for management and internal/external auditors
  • Compiles and analyzes financial information 
  • Assists other accountants in the department with month-end close responsibilities
  • May be assigned special projects
  • Performs other related duties as required

Strong attention to detail and proficiency in accounting software are essential for this role. Additionally, an accountant may collaborate with other teams to ensure accurate financial information and compliance with regulations.

Minimum Job Requirements:
Four-year college degree in accounting plus a minimum of 2-3 years of public accounting experience and/or transactional accounting experience, preferably in a contracting and/or manufacturing environment.  CPA certification or MBA preferred.  Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial reporting requirements.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Excel and Office) programs, experience with SAP and Blackline a plus. Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management and external auditors.  Good oral and written communication skills.  Able to prioritize tasks, handle multiple projects, work under deadline stresses, work with a computer for an extended period of time, concentrate and stay focused. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer required. Limited to travel including international.
