Associate / Director of Fulfillment Centre Operations

As Director Fulfillment Centre (FC) Operations you will build and lead our network of new fulfilment centres, growing and training the workforce to deliver exceptional performance, while embracing process change and future automation. We need someone who is driven to get the job done, brings a positive attitude, meets company’s KPIs and strives to provide exceptional customer service. This role will encompass:

  • Setup active operations in the existing and subsequent FCs.
  • Improving the consistency and level of operational execution.
  • Driving continuous improvement across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.
  • Developing a systematic approach to improvement.

 

Responsibilities: You will:

  • Build a high performing site leadership team. Develop management level and associate operations staff. Build teams to ensure sustainable and high standard fulfillment operations.
  • Own and manage the fulfilment budget, constantly looking for opportunities to deliver cost savings. Achieve financial objectives and cost economics targets.
  • Cascade strategic objectives, align focus and instil attention to detail throughout all operational levels.
  • Build the fulfillment center network at multiple locations to support the growth of RedMart.
  • Establish best in class processes in the FC to enable performance metrics to be met.
  • Build strong relationships with key internal teams creating a ‘one-team’ approach. Work with all stakeholders to continuously improve performance.
  • Ensure quality service is provided to our customers, and ensure prompt follow-through on customer correspondence or complaints
  • Be equally comfortable with lean, startup ways of working as well as highly rigorous process driven operations.
  • Be a role model in living the redmart cultural values - promoting an environment where respect, trust and integrity is maintained at all times.
  • Be highly visible - actively engaging and interacting with the operational teams at all levels.
  • Embrace change and always look for new and better ways of doing things.

Requirements: To be considered for this role you will need:

 

  • Graduate Degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years experience in managing a similar operation in a senior manager capacity.
  • Strong technical skills and be very comfortable with data, technology and automation.
  • An analytical and logical mind with the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Proven experience in a large-scale, highly automated and complex operation, preferably including a start up site.
  • To demonstrate successful leadership of large teams including management of technical and hourly paid employees.
  • Experience of high volumes of recruitment.
  • To be flexible, personally effective and possess the stamina and drive required to meet the demands of the role
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with other internal teams such as HR, Industrial Engineering, Capacity Planning, Technology & Transport
  • Practical knowledge and experience of continuous improvement and fostering innovation, ideally using lean techniques.
  • First hand experience with Warehouse Management Systems and technical implementations, Inventory Control, Quality Assurance and Safety Management.
  • To be comfortable with strategic thinking but have a practical, hands-on and detailed approach to managing the day to day operation.
  • To be process-oriented and to deliver  continuous improvement by identifying defects in our systems and processes and correcting the root cause.
  • Sound commercial skills, able to own and effectively manage large-scale budgets to drive cost efficiency.
