Role Purpose
As a senior member of the Operations Team, the successful candidate will be responsible to develop the despatch, trucking, cross-docking and last-mile delivery tactical plans, run related projects and ensure high performing transport operations at cross docks or at assigned facilities.
Responsibilities
- Build delivery fleet of full time and 3rd party drivers and the tools / processes necessary to recruit, manage, train and retain this driver community.
- Day-to-day responsibility for perfect execution of deliveries across thousands of deliveries daily.
- Ensure despatch & delivery obligations to customers are met daily, without exception.
- Drive workplace safety as the culture that underpins all decision taken within the despatch operation.
- Build an engaged workforce and positive employer branding within the Singapore drivers workforce community
- Lead the rollout of various delivery options and modes to suit different customer demand profiles.
- Drive service level improvement in addition to meeting daily and monthly business targets for transport operations, including delivery volumes, delivery schedule and service hours, on-time delivery rates, safety, productivity, and total operating costs.
- Shape all transport processes, procedures, and schedules of the daily activities of the transport operation.
- Oversee relationship management with our contractors ensuring there is service and quality alignment cross our businesses.
- Manage commercial relationships with key vendors such as truck leasing companies and other service providers.
- Ensure all vehicle maintenance and repair procedures are properly designed, followed & documented.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across transport operation.
- Oversee the hiring, training, evaluating and development plan of the transport operations team including delivery representatives, despatch personnel, and supervisory staff to ensure a productive and high-performing workforce.
- Make sure that all RedMart transportation technologies are being utilized properly and is fully integrated with day-to-day processes.
- Ensure security of goods and all company assets used within the delivery operation.
- Collaborate with our Engineering team in the design and implementation of innovative technology solutions that will revolutionize home delivery in Singapore.
- Be responsible for the Transport operations P&L
Requirements
- Degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years in a general management role or with at least 4 years in an transport operations management role
- Demonstrated successful track record in building a service-focused, cost-effective delivery organization.
- Organised, efficient and perseveres to get things done. A people-person with a natural tendency to lead by example; Motivates people across all roles in the team.
- Experience hiring and building high-performance teams and guiding them to use technology to constantly achieve peak efficiency
- Strong analytical skills to identify opportunities for service and cost improvements. A continuous improvement mindset with intellectual curiosity.
- Experience with working alongside Product teams to implement software that solves major business issues
- Proven crisis management capability and have the ability to handle extreme growth rate with confidence. Be fast and resourceful to grow capacity quickly.
Added advantage
- Managerial experience in Singapore with a delivery, e-com or retail outlet
- Experience with supply chain for e-commerce
- Possess 5 years experience in logistics
- Track record of career advancement, and building a high performing and sustainable team
