RESPONSIBILITIES

 As part of the BI team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that Hadoop stays online, secure, and performant.

This includes day-to-day system administration of the production environment, script development, implementation of automation tools for Hadoop management and monitoring.

You will also be responsible for the scalability, performance, and availability of the Hadoop, PIG, HIVE, SCALA, Python, Spark infrastructure and pipeline.

 As you will work closely and collaboratively with Data Analysts, statisticians and data scientists you main tasks will be (but not limited to):

• Leverage data to identify business growth opportunities
• Help business intelligence team in maintaining our big data pipeline (SCALA + HIVE + PIG + SPARK + PYTHON)
• Perform adhoc big data extractions and analysis on large data sets to provide actionable insights for partners and users
• Use Hadoop, PIG, HIVE, SPARK, PYTHON or any big data tool you need to feed our internal reporting tools to work efficiently at scale.
• Propose, develop and implement new tools for data optimization including machine learning and streaming data processing.

REQUIREMENTS

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline - Master’s/Graduate degree is a plus
• Passionate about big data
• Strong proficiency and knowledge in SQL and scripting
• Knowledge of Big data tools such as but not limited to PIG, SPARK (PYTHON OR SCALA), HBASE, IMPALA, HIVE, CASSANDRA
• Knowledge of JAVA/SCALA is required
• Good knowledge of Linux environment and task automation: SHELL, CRON, BASH
• Ability and willingness to work with software developers and data scientists
• 3-5 years work experience
• Passion for software development, data, insights and analysis
• Proven record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented and delivering results in an organized manner.
