What are the details of this position?:
The Business Development Manager, Intelligent Transportation Systems (BDM) will help develop and support BD strategies for Geotab’s growing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) portfolio of data-driven transportation insights products and services. These strategies will maximize sales, open new geographic and customer market segments, and establish the Geotab brand as a market leader. The BDM will be responsible for developing critical relationships with transportation contractors and consultants, traditional MyGeotab resellers and partners, and all internal Geotab stakeholders. The BDM will also provide technical consultation and subject matter expertise to all relevant sales activities; develop contracting options and partnerships for our sales channel; identify and develop new and existing partners and resellers; identify and develop new and existing strategic customer accounts; provide product development recommendations and leadership to internal teams; and other activities needed to maximize the sales of these new solutions. In summary, the BDM will be a critical contributor to a new large and strategic business unit for Geotab.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development of a go-to-market strategy for Geotab’s growing data-driven ITS solutions
- Establish commercial reseller partnerships with transportation engineering contractors and consultants and other third-parties to maximize the sales prospects of ITS products and services in North America
- Engage existing strategic government customers and prospects to introduce ITS products and services to generate incremental revenue streams
- Engage existing strategic government customers and prospects to introduce ITS products and services to solicit critical product feedback
- Provide technical consultation and subject matter expertise to customers and partners alike
- Develop contracting options for our sales channels
- Provide product development recommendations and leadership to the product engineering team
- Conduct primary and secondary market research to position Geotab’s ITS products and services for widespread adoption in the marketplace
- Identify new areas for growth; propose and manage programs and initiatives accordingly
- Attend and lead trade shows and conferences to build company credibility, brand presence, and identify potential new partners
- Work closely with other BD leadership to ensure all activities are aligned with the broader BD strategies
- Work closely with the Marketing team to develop the necessary collateral and campaigns to grow the Geotab brand and maximize exposure and sales
Qualifications and Skills:
- 5+ years experience working in a business development role, developing sales and marketing strategies to maximize revenues
- 5+ years of selling data-driven software products and services to transportation-focused end-customers
- 2+ years of experience with government contracting
- General understanding of technical data and AI fundamentals, including but not limited to machine learning models, statistical analysis, and core big data concepts
- Experience with GCP infrastructure and Google BigQuery is a plus
- Understanding of data privacy implications from legislation like CCPA and GDPR in the context of data-driven products
- Strong ability to respond to detailed and often technical RFI, RFP, and RFQ responses
- Strong time management, presentation and communication skills
- Travel up to 50% (may vary based on location)
- 4- year university degree (preferably Engineering, Business, or Economics)
