Who We Are
Levels is an early-stage startup working to solve the metabolic health crisis. We're doing so by empowering individuals with continuous data about their glucose levels. Through Levels, people gain insight about the ways in which they can improve their metabolic health by optimizing diet and exercise.
If you want to know what we're all about, you should check out the following pieces of content from a few members of the co-founding team:

What We're Working On
Poor metabolic health is a risk factor for many diseases, and few people have the right tools to create tight, positive feedback loops with their diet and exercise. We've seen massive value of using wearables that provide real-time insights, including continuous glucose monitors, to create informed behavior change. Currently these devices are used primarily to treat disease; our mission is to expand access to this technology early, and pair it with insight-driven software, so that people can optimize their health behaviors before they reach clinical thresholds for disease.
We're still in the scrappy startup phase, so are looking for people who are comfortable with ambiguity and having wide impact. We've been distributed and remote-first since Day 1 (even pre-COVID!), and care a ton about communication, autonomy, curiosity, and initiative.
We've been running our beta program since early 2020 and have thousands of happy paying members who are using Levels to stabilize their energy levels, lose weight, optimize athletic performance, and learn strategies to reduce risk of chronic disease. Customer excitement has been off the charts. We're generating meaningful monthly revenue and are currently preparing for a public launch in 2022 (with more than 150,000 people on our waitlist).
Our team is highly experienced, and many team members have started and sold companies before. We love learning from each other and are looking for people who bring a new set of experiences and backgrounds to our team.
Role Overview
First and foremost, we're looking for someone who is excited about what we're doing—you should be passionate about metabolic health and a root-cause approach to health, and excited to learn and engage in the space.
As our Chief of Staff, you will work directly with Dr. Casey Means across a range of strategic business priorities. For the first 6 months, you will have two focuses:
- Owning the strategy and execution of managing our Advisors. This will involve working cross-functionally with many teams, including Content, Partnerships, Growth, and Clinical Research.
- Establishing the strategic framework and day-to-day processes needed to significantly scale Casey’s digital presence over the next couple years. This includes growing her reach and content production across Instagram, Podcasts, YouTube, Levels distribution channels, PR and media appearances, and more.
Levels has assembled an Advisory Board of the unequivocal global thought leaders on metabolic health. Together, these academic physicians and researchers have produced 28 NYT bestselling books, close to 1,000 scientific research publications, and an online audience of over 2.5 million followers across channels.
A non-exhaustive list of responsibilities in your first six months include:
- Defining the vision for how to effectively work with our Advisors. Our goals are to 1) unlock value for Levels and 2) provide back as much value as we can to these individuals and their work.
- Owning day-to-day relationship management of our Advisors.
- Working cross-functionally with internal teams to determine how we can leverage our Advisors to achieve company goals. Examples of functional areas of the business that you will work alongside:
- Content – Determine how to collaborate with our Advisors to educate the world on Metabolic Health, across our blog, podcast, newsletter, and social channels.
- Partnerships & Growth – Assist in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns across our Advisors’ distribution platforms, e.g. Podcast, Social, Newsletter, and more.
- Media & PR – Work with internal marketing team and external PR agency to help our advisors gain press and media exposure (e.g. traditional PR, podcast appearances)
- Community – Create opportunities for our Advisors to connect with Levels Members in a mutually beneficial way.
- Product – Work alongside our Product team to determine how to leverage our Advisors in order to improve Levels Member experience.
- Legal - Work with our Head of Legal to draft and execute advisor contracts, and subsequently create a system to ensure we are following through on items listed in the contract
- Collaborating with the Levels Content, Growth, and Partnerships teams, as well as external agencies, to build the playbook needed to scale Casey’s digital presence and distribution of her content assets
- The long-term vision is for Casey’s personal brand to be critical piece of the Levels overall marketing and brand awareness strategy. Much in the way that public scientists and doctors like Mark Hyman, Andrew Huberman, and David Sinclair have built significant audiences and distribution channels, we believe there is a huge opportunity for Casey to be the leading public voice in Metabolic Health.
- Vetting and preparing for key media opportunities (e.g. a high visibility podcast appearance or an interview with a journalist)
- Manage strategy and execution of Casey’s communication channels – this includes email, social media channels, and newsletters. We don’t expect the Chief of Staff to fully manage these channels themselves, however, we do expect them to determine what can be outsourced to execute assistants, whether or not we should hire a marketing agency to help manage Casey’s social channels, how best to triage inbound opportunities, etc. The Chief of Staff will be expected to draft copy for various communications channels based on source material from podcasts, media interviews, blog posts, or other media Casey is involved in.
- Assisting in the research and preparation for Whole New Level podcast and external podcast recordings
- Finding ways to turn day to day workflows into systematized processes to save time and effort
- Serving as a stand-in for Casey in key meetings that Casey is unable to attend
- Working with other Levels executives on ad-hoc projects
🧩 This role will evolve over time depending on the priorities and needs of the business. The most significant needs are outlined above, however, there will be additional responsibilities over time across the business
