Clinical Informaticist

TLDR

Serve as clinical SME to shape data-driven decision support and workflows across a telehealth platform.

About OpenLoop

OpenLoop was co-founded by CEO, Dr. Jon Lensing, and COO, Christian Williams, with the vision to bring care anywhere. Our telehealth support solutions are thoughtfully designed to streamline and simplify go-to-market care delivery for companies offering meaningful virtual support to patients across an expansive array of specialties, in all 50 states.

About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Clinical Informaticist to join our team remotely. This role will be a member of the Clinical & Informatics team and report to the Senior Medical Director of Clinical & Informatics. The role will center around serving as a clinical subject matter expert for our product and project teams and developing and maintaining the clinical data sets that power clinical decision support and drive clinical workflows across our platform.

What You'll Do

  • Serve as the clinical subject matter expert (SME) for product and project teams, providing guidance on clinical workflows, clinical knowledge, and best practices for clinical data

  • Design, build, test, and update clinical data assets that provide clinical decision support and drive clinical workflows, - ensuring their ongoing accuracy, completeness, and clinical validity over time

  • Translate clinical requirements into workflow and informatics/data specifications, and validate that delivered features reflect sound clinical reasoning

  • Analyze clinical data to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement, and apply findings to enhance decision support logic and workflow automation

  • Review technical specifications for clinical workflow applications to provide clinical informatics input - and provide support as SME and IC for product managers leading clinical application products

  • Maintain and curate mappings to standardized clinical and medical vocabularies, supporting interoperability and consistency across systems

  • Collaborate with clinical, product, and engineering stakeholders to ensure data-driven features are safe, usable, and clinically meaningful

  • Partner with clinical leadership to support guideline development, clinical content governance, and quality and product enhancements

  • Work closely with Quality and Clinical Training/Education teams to identify areas of improvement for clinical workflows across the organization; collaboratively design and implement solutions

  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

  • Active, unrestricted clinical license (e.g., MD/DO, PharmD, NP, PA) and current board certification in the relevant clinical discipline required

  • Formal training in clinical informatics (e.g., graduate coursework, certificate, or board certification in Clinical Informatics) is strongly preferred

  • 5+ years of clinical practice experience required

  • 5+ years of experience in hands-on clinical informatics work, to include data development, data analysis, and data maintenance

  • Strong working knowledge of clinical workflows and experience working in or with multiple EHR systems

  • Demonstrated clinical informatics experience, ideally in a setting that blends clinical knowledge with data development to support clinical decision making and workflows

  • High Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL required

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with FHIR, FHIR resource model, and FHIRpath syntax

  • Computer proficient with Google Suite, Zoom, Zoho, Notion, Slack and other similar platforms

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to reason through complex clinical and data-modeling problems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to act as a translator between clinical and technical audiences

  • Ability to work cross-functionally across multiple teams and stakeholders

  • Able to quickly pivot as needed in a rapidly growing startup environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building or maintaining clinical content, terminology mappings, or decision-support data sets is strongly preferred

  • Experience working with Claude/Claude code or other AI models to assist with data design, QA, and integrity is a plus

  • Experience working as an informaticist for a clinical data or medical vocabulary company (e.g., LOINC, SNOMED CT, Medi-Span, First Databank (FDB), Lexicomp) is a plus
