CMO of Specialty Retail Brands (SRB) and Perigold
Wayfair is seeking an experienced executive to drive holistic marketing strategy and execution for our family of Speciality Retail Brands (SRBs) (AllModern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main) and our Luxury Furniture and Decor Marketplace - Perigold. We are currently in the midst of an overhaul of each brand, and have line-of-sight into upgraded brand offerings through tightly curated and merchandised store experience. We believe these current efforts will be foundational pillars for success in the specialized space, to ensure these brands all deliver on their distinct positioning and customer promise.
The Specialty and Luxury furniture and decor market is >$130B in the US alone and we are currently only a tiny portion of this. Our mission is to take a meaningful portion of this market and collectively grow these businesses to be more than $10B over the coming years. Our goals are ambitious and we need a leader who can develop, execute, and iterate on the growth strategy to help these brands realize their full potential. What You’ll Do
- Innovate - You will lead a go to marketing strategy for our revamped Speciality Retail Brands (SRBs) and Perigold offerings. Responsibilities include:
- Brand development - relaunching our brands to deliver on a more distinct promise, and quickly iterating on the brand positioning, creative treatments, and site experience when necessary
- Enhancing our understanding of our unique customers for each brand by marrying behavioral and insights data to help improve our offering, messaging, and targeting techniques
- Leveraging Wayfair LLC CRM data to master in-house targeting, and inform targeting techniques to prospect net new customers to the LLC customer file
- Building, innovating and scaling our current marketing channels (i.e, Email, Social, Retargeting, SEM, PLA, SEO); this also includes looking for opportunities to streamline channel management workflows through automation or other technology advancements
- Developing a unique and strategic new scale mail catalog programs for each brand
- Envisioning and building out our physical retail footprint for each of our brands (first store launches 2021 for AllModern)
- Lead & Collaborate - You will oversee and develop a 80+ multi-disciplinary team of solid line and strong/dedicated dotted line reports. You will work closely with the CEO/Co-Founder, Executive team and GMs of the Specialty Retail Brands and Perigold. Externally, you will partner with major publishing organizations (e.g. Facebook, Google, Pinterest, Verizon etc).
- Execute - You will have full ownership of ad spend levers and scale with ROI as the only constraint. As such, you will own the daily execution and operations of all marketing channels (e.g. spend, traffic, revenue) and leverage our world class ad-tech stack, machine learning personalization, bidding, and targeting algorithms.
What You’ll Need
- 15+ years of experience coupled with at least 5 years of operating experience within a large organization as a GM or CMO capacity who understands how to build a brand and the drivers of performance and measurement marketing.
- Track record of leading and transforming sizable, large multi-disciplinary teams has large organizational leadership experience, deep experience developing and executing strategy, restructuring organizations, and is an expert at driving long-term growth and motivating teams and stakeholders.
- Experience having regular interaction and exposure with working with C-suite executives
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic environment bringing intellectual horsepower, and mental agility to quickly learn new topics, understand our unique organization, culture and approaches.
- Success in building and transforming brands in both ecommerce and omni channel settings at scale.
- Knowledge of launching new channel capabilities in both physical stores and catalogs, among others.
