Job Summary

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the commissioning process for mission-critical data center projects. This role ensures that all systems (mechanical, electrical, controls, and IT infrastructure) are designed, installed, tested, and operated according to project requirements and industry standards, with a strong focus on reliability, efficiency, and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the full commissioning lifecycle from design review through to handover and post-occupancy support
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules
  • Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, vendors, and client stakeholders
  • Review design documents to ensure commissionability and operational efficiency
  • Oversee pre-functional and functional testing of systems including:
    • Electrical systems (UPS, generators, switchgear)
    • Mechanical systems (HVAC, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers)
    • Building Management Systems (BMS) / DCIM
  • Manage integrated systems testing (IST) and simulate failure scenarios
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ASHRAE and Uptime Institute guidelines
  • Identify, track, and resolve commissioning issues and deficiencies
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation, reports, and checklists
  • Support training of operations teams and ensure smooth handover
  • Manage commissioning budgets, timelines, and resources

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field
  • 8–15+ years of experience in mission-critical facilities or data centers
  • Proven experience managing commissioning for Tier III / Tier IV data centers
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Electrical distribution systems (MV/LV)
    • Cooling systems and redundancy configurations
    • Control systems and automation
  • Familiarity with commissioning standards and best practices

  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders in high-pressure environments

  • Effective communication and reporting skills
