Compliance Specialist
TLDR
Draft client service agreements, prepare annual Forms 5500, 720, 1094, and 1095 filings, and maintain benefits plan information across platforms.
Hilb Group is looking for a Compliance Specialist to join our Employee Benefits Compliance national practice group. The EB Compliance group includes 5 lawyers and works to ensure our clients’ compliance with the laws and regulations governing health and welfare plans, including ERISA and the Affordable Care Act.
We are seeking a Compliance Specialist to assist with the creation of client-facing documents and contracts, as well as filing and reporting requirements. Primary duties include drafting client service agreements and preparing and filing Forms 5500, 720, 1094, and 1095. A keen eye for detail, next-level organization and the ability to meet deadlines with precision are essential. Experience in a legal position and/or experience with employee benefits is preferred but not required.
We are open to an in-person, remote, or hybrid work arrangement; proximity to our Cranston, RI office is a plus.
The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Draft, review, and edit client service agreements using a contract management system
- Track client service agreements from initial request through final execution
- Hands-on assistance with the preparation of annual reporting and filing, including Forms 5500, 720 and 1095
- Update and maintain employer and benefits plan information in multiple technology platforms to ensure accuracy

Education and Experience:
- BA/BS degree required, paralegal or legal studies certification or legal work experience preferred
- Practical experience in employee benefits is a plus
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Planner, and Forms
- Experience with contract management software a plus
