Creative Director
TLDR
Own the creative vision across display, social, video, audio, and DOOH; mentor a design team; and drive AI-enhanced concepts from brief to performance.
About Agility
Agility is a precision brand advertising platform that helps marketers replace the chaos of wasted ad spend, disconnected systems, unreliable measurement, and underperforming creative with a single operating system. That system brings together persona strategy and targeting, premium creative production and testing, incrementality measurement, and media buying and optimization across channels like CTV, online video, audio, display, DOOH, and social.
Our Performance Creative team powers Agility's Precision Creative, continuously building and testing creative variants for each audience across channels and funnel stages, so brands learn what actually drives results. Last year, that meant 1,100+ individual creatives across 15+ active brands, delivered against a strict SLA framework with zero missed launches.
About the role
We're looking for a Creative Director to own the creative vision across that portfolio: someone who thinks big-picture and critically, moves fast without dropping detail, and has the instincts to know when a piece is right and when it isn't. In this role, you'll set creative direction across channels including display, social, video, audio, and DOOH, be the last set of eyes before work ships, and offer creative mentorship to a team of designers and multimedia specialists. You'll partner closely with our strategy team to turn client briefs into work that's on-strategy, on-brand, and built to perform.
We're looking for a leader who knows what great work takes across the full creative craft, from concepting and pitching to copy, design, video production, and review, and who brings an open, forward-leaning attitude toward AI and how it elevates the work.
What you'll do
Build understanding of the client, strategy, and project
- Get ahead of incoming work by studying the brand, its competitors, and its industry. How the brand positions itself and what makes it different.
- Debrief every greenlit project against its documentation (brand guide, strategy docs, business proposal, personas, deliverables, testing model) to fully understand the client, the strategy, and the parameters before direction begins.
- Confirm the team has every asset and input needed to make effective creative decisions, and flag gaps early with Creative Operations.
Ideate and provide creative direction
- Lead concept development and creative direction across all activated channels (copy, imagery, video, voiceover and casting, music, sound design, motion graphics, and animation style)
- Build and present concept pitches that clearly articulate the insight, idea, and execution to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Direct both live-action video production and design-led display/social work with equal fluency.
- Use AI-generated creative to accelerate concepting and production across display and video and set the standard for how the team applies these tools.
Review and quality control
- Serve as the final creative reviewer on all assets, holding every piece to brand, technical, and channel best-practice standards.
- Coach rather than control, clearly separating objective decisions (brand fidelity, technical correctness, platform specs, adherence to the brief) that are non-negotiable from subjective ones (pacing, styling, aesthetic nuance) that belong to the creative, and knowing exactly where that line sits.
- Review both video and design work at a high bar, giving direction that raises quality without dictating taste.
Mentor the team and level up the craft
- Provide creative mentorship to designers and multimedia specialists, sharpening their instincts, technique, and creative judgment.
- Lead regular team trainings to help the team level up their skills, share techniques, and adopt new tools and approaches.
- Stay current on advertising trends, emerging formats, and AI creative tools, and bring the best of them back to the team.
- Maintain creative consistency across distinct brand voices while directing many concurrent projects within our SLA framework.
Qualifications
- 7+ years in creative roles with proven experience directing an agency or in-house creative team across multiple clients or brands.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong work in both video and graphic design, not one at the expense of the other.
- Hands-on experience with AI-generated creative (image and video) applied to real advertising work.
- Sharp strategic and critical thinking; able to connect creative decisions back to brand strategy and audience.
- Excellent concepting, presentation, and communication skills, including presenting to clients.
- Fast-paced and detail-obsessed: able to hold quality across high volume and many simultaneous projects.
- Fluency across digital channels (display, paid social, video/CTV/OLV, audio, DOOH) and their best practices.
- A mentorship-minded approach that elevates the creatives around them, giving ownership while protecting brand, strategy, and craft.
Nice to have
- Experience in performance-driven or test-and-iterate creative environments.
- Familiarity with the tools our team uses (Frame.io, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and leading AI creative platforms)
- Experience building or refining creative processes, review criteria, or team SOPs.
