Director of IT

Strategic & Tactical Leadership

• Understand company short- and long-term business goals, challenges, implications, and opportunities they present.
• Understand the role of IT services in value creation & risk mitigation, especially in areas of security, regulatory compliance, cross-functional collaboration, scalable growth & efficiency.
• Understand IT service consumers and stakeholders needs and expectations. 
• Equipped with the above, develop and own IT vision and a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
• Establish IT governance, ensuring IT services support & enable achieving company goals in the best way possible, while mitigating risks in a proactive and timely fashion. 
• Develop and manage IT budget, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately and that the organization is receiving a high return on investment
• Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for hardware, software, and services

Collaboration, Growth and Culture

• Build strong collaborative relationships with key “peer” functions, including but not limited to product & engineering, marketing & operations, compliance, information security, people operations and finance.
• Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that IT solutions are aligned with business needs and that technology is being used efficiently to support business objectives
• Ensure sustainable IT function growth and scalability required to meet company needs. 
• Champion a continuous improvement culture & mindset. Ensure existence of efficient continuous feedback loops both in IT teams and across functions. 
• Identify, nurture, and grow leadership. 
• Ensure a healthy balance between freedom and responsibility.  
• Champion RSI culture, leading by example. 

Services & Teams 

• Own talent acquisition, growth, and retention.
• Ensure IT provides stable, secure, and compliant services.
• Ensure goals are met & serve company needs, while any risks are mitigated in a proactive and timely fashion.
• Ensure systematic application of DevOps best practices, esp. related to quality, security, and regulatory compliance. Promote automation.
• Ensure IT best practices are followed across the company.

Regulatory Compliance and Risk Mitigation

• Maintain a strategic approach to risk mitigation. Ensure risks are identified and proactively mitigated in a timely fashion. 
• Ensure compliance with any applicable laws and regulations for any existing and upcoming jurisdictions the company is or will be operating in, including privacy laws. 
• Ensure compliance with any applicable requirements such as ISO-27001, PCI-DSS and SOX. 
• Develop and implement policies and procedures related to IT operations, IT security, data privacy and data protection
• Develop and implement IT controls required to comply with organization’s security policy, data protection & data privacy policies
