Electrical Engineering Manager
TLDR
Leads hardware and firmware teams to design TerraFarm LED lighting, high/low-voltage power distribution, PCBs, and wireless sensor networks for advanced agricultural automation.
Role – As the Electrical Engineering Manager at Local Roots, you’ll be overseeing the electrical engineering team responsible for designing and building the products that will enable us to provide flavorful affordable food to everyone. You’ll have responsibility over all firmware and hardware projects including high voltage power distribution, LED lighting, PCBs, the TerraFarm wireless mesh sensor network, all process automation firmware, and more. You will also be responsible for developing new projects we should be pursuing. You’ll need to be creative, solve problems, and motivate your team to rapidly build new technology to solve the challenges at the forefront agriculture.
Responsibilities – You should be confident making significant contributions in the following categories:
- Manage a team to develop new LED fixtures (high voltage, large footprint) for our TerraFarms
- Manage teams to design new PCBs (we use Altium Designer) for our TerraFarms
- Manage teams to develop new Firmware (mainly C++) for our TerraFarms
- Organize, motivate, lead, recruit, develop, train, and inspire a team of electrical (firmware and hardware) engineers
- Interface with mechanical, software, automation, and manufacturing engineering teams
- Define standardized development processes and metric collection, analysis, and utilization to improve efficiency and quality throughout the engineering process
Requirements – Your background should include the following:
- Extensive experience managing hardware and firmware projects
- High voltage and low voltage experience
- BS in EE or similar
Bonus Skills – Bonus points if any of these also describe you:
- MS or PhD in engineering; 10+ years professional experience in electrical engineering
- Knowledge of LED design including UL certification
- Expertise in biology, plant physiology, and horticultural
- Experience with user interfaces, networking, and industrial automation
