Embedded Software Product Manager

TLDR

Owns the roadmap and deployment of embedded control firmware for single-axis solar trackers, bridging hardware, software, and field operations to boost reliability and scalability.

Job Description:

Job Summary

We are seeking a technically grounded and results-driven Embedded Software Product Manager to own the roadmap, development, and deployment of control and functional features in our single-axis solar tracker systems. You will be the critical bridge between embedded engineering, systems integration, hardware design, and field operations—ensuring that our tracker control platforms are robust, field-resilient, and scalable.

This role is ideal for someone who understands embedded systems, thrives on solving real-world hardware/software problems, and is eager to define product requirements that push the boundaries of solar tracker performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, prioritize, and collaborate on the product roadmap for embedded control firmware and functional software across tracker hardware platforms.

  • Specify product requirements documents (PRDs), use cases, and feature sets aligned with customer needs and field realities.

  • Drive functional safety, system uptime, and operational efficiency as core product metrics.

  • Work closely with embedded systems engineers, control algorithms teams, and hardware design engineers to ensure alignment from design to field deployment.

  • Partner with field engineering and customer support to translate field insights into firmware-level improvements.

  • Coordinate with SCADA/cloud platform teams to ensure seamless integration between edge and cloud.

  • Lead agile backlog grooming and sprint planning for the embedded development team.

  • Validate releases through test plan reviews, simulated environments, and controlled field rollouts.

  • Establish traceability for requirements and verification to comply with global standards (IEC, UL, etc.).

  • Engage with internal and external customers to understand environmental, grid, and operational challenges that inform product enhancements.

  • Actively participate in pilot projects and new product introductions to ensure system-level feature validation.

  •

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.

  • 3–5 years of experience in embedded systems product management or closely related technical product roles.

  • Solid understanding of real-time control systems, embedded software architecture, and firmware-hardware interactions.

  • Experience with solar tracker systems, motor control, sensors (IMUs, encoders), or grid-connected devices is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with CAN, RS-485, Modbus, OPC, or other industrial protocols.

  • Strong skills in writing PRDs, defining test plans, and managing product lifecycle in Agile/Scrum environments.

  • Proven ability to influence technical direction and drive cross-functional execution.
